My SL left shortly after I signed up (3-4 years ago) and have only spoken to my ASM once.

Occasional messages on the avon message board (general ones, sent to everyone). She makes money from my sales but does nothing for me.

Same here, mine only rings me if it looks like my order isn't going to be submitted - like at 8 pm on the day its due. Surely i'm not the only rep who sits down to submit orders at that time on last day before they are due. I never submit till last day incase of any last minute orders - usually my sister who always seems to run out of foundation or mascara the day after i submit order - shes not the organised type

ASMs don't actually make any money from your sales. They are employed by Avon and on salary. Occasionally they'll need collective sales figures for their bonus, but it's based far more on new sign-ups, first orders and the number of reps placing an order per campaign.

Believe it or not, Avon doesn't want your ASM to do any more than send the occasional group email! In fact, they will soon be bringing in new rules that, other than training sales leaders, sending emails, and running the monthly meetings, ASMs won't be allowed to devote any time to reps past their first few campaigns, they'll be told they have to direct you to head office. Stupid, but true.
Even at the moment, ASMs are expected to make signing reps up their priority before dealing with existing reps. And I can kind of understand the predicament ASMs are in, they don't get given enough time to do all the things they have to do, so they're never going to get around to doing the things they don't have to. If an ASM doesn't hit their target one campaign, they are on a dire warning. If they don't hit it for a second in a row, they are often sacked. It's that simple. I know of one ASM who got called into head office for a meeting, told she wasn't performing, and was made to leave the company car and laptop behind and had to make her own way home, newly unemployed.

It's not often I stick up for ASMs, but I do think that if reps understood the pressure they are under they'd understand why sometimes things aren't dealt with quickly or to their satisfaction.

It's impersonal, I know, but they are expected to 'remind' people who may have forgotten and they have a whole day for 'order management' where they have to sit all day chasing up all the people who've forgotten to do their order. I helped my ASM do this once and I was flabberghasted at how many people had literally forgotten to place their order :wall: The ASM console only has an option to send to all reps who haven't placed an order yet, they can't deselect the people they know place their order on the day each time.

I understand about ASM being busy etc - but I still think it doesn't take long to send an email!!! Still not heard back from my ASM who was meant to come last Thursday & bring me books, and discuss having more territory, so annoyed! I don't mind necessarily doing things with minimal help - I'm intelligent enough to do it lol, and any queries I have are soon answered on here......what I do mind is waiting in all morning for nothing!

One thing I wondered was - last campaign I had a "week off" so to speak between placing my order and it arriving, as didn't want to start canvassing my territory until I had received my goods. (Used the time to package up the books I had, do newsletters etc) Do many people do this, or are you always canvassing?

    Had a great order today - £44!!! So I'm up to £325 now :D
Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A
