Just thought I would say hello :hello: . I've got a lady coming over on Wednesday evening to join me up as an Avon rep so will probably become a regular on this thread.

I used to do this years ago and wanted to take it up again. She has reserved me some territory which is good. Any tips to get me started or anything I can do before I meet her on Wednesday would be much appreciated.

At last I have my confirmed territory, at first I was told that I was being given the territory of another rep as she hadn’t placed any orders but sadly last night she phoned her order in so I’ve lost those houses now. I’ve been given a smaller patch which has just over 50 homes all within walking distance of my home so it’s not all bad.

I’m slightly concerned that one of the areas has a bit of a reputation around town though I know that someone in the office works there so I guess I should keep an open mind.(and take my boyfriend with me when I put my books out!)

My ASM said after seeing me on Wednesday night she put flyers up in the local takeaways along with a brochure and that any leads/orders generated from that she would forward to me as she cant take orders herself so with any luck that will get things moving.

There’s around £30 worth of items that I want for myself and my OH so that leaves another £45 worth of orders I need to get to MOV to earn some commission, is that doable from 50 houses, if you expect that maybe half of them wont place an order at all?

I left 7 brochures with my OH this morning to hand out to local businesses near us, we live in the centre of town above an accountants and an estate agents who we know quite well, plus the family next door run a dry cleaning firm and allow people to put posters and flyers in their window.

I’m buzzing with ideas on how to get orders in and have all day tomorrow to myself to get organised. Is it normal to be this excited?! Wish me luck everyone, I can’t wait to place my first order online even if it is only a small one.

  • Hi Liz,

Good luck hope it goes well for you. Just wait a bit, reps seems to give it up all the time so i think it is just a case of waiting till some more houses are free. I am on my 2nd camp and have just had my area upped from 65 houses to 135 so you just need to wait. SL and ASM like to wait a little just to see how you cope.

My first order was for £160 with 65 houses so it is doable. Total order went in for £209.00 after samples that I ordered and family and friends ordered.

I would say put a note in introducing yourself, so they do not think you are going to dissappear after the first camp, that seemed to really work for me.

I completely misread the email and realised today I have 70 houses, so thats a very good start. I'm looking forward to getting the books out tomorrow and will cross my fingers for some good orders

  • Hey Peeps,

I signed up to Avon on Saturday and am a complete newbie, so will be coming back to this thread for help all the time probably.

It's encouraging to see people doing so well, although while doing my first brochure drop last night I found out someone's been sneekily dropping their brochures all over my village. So that's gonna drop the number of orders by quite a bit.

Anyway, picking them up on Monday. Will keep you posted! :o

I'd agree with someone's suggestion of putting a note in with your books - I print off two per A4 page, which is just the right size to put over the back cover of the books. On it I put something along the lines of "I'm Laura your new Avon representative (obviously after my first campaign I will omit the new bit!), I hope you enjoy browsing the latest issue of the Avon book."

And then I put a few little paragraphs highlighting the good offers in that book, especially the ones that people might miss, like on the certain pages things are BOGOF or buy one get one for a £1 etc.

Might be something you could start drawing up while you wait - you can view the brochures online, and could request yourself one (usually arrive within a couple of days). I'd also say buy some resealable plastic bags ready to get your books bagged up in! This way people can leave them outside their front door, saving you time when you collect & from disturbing people, and the books don't get ruined if people put them back out the same night you deliver them!

I'd say it's totally do-able - and keep an open mind about your territory! They might really surprise you with the amount they order!

I was really excited about my first campaign - and I am about my second! I would be more excited if I was so  at my SL though!

Sounds great with the local businesses near you - I'd definately go and get posters put up in all the places that you can & give them books too, will really up your orders. Your lady sounds really nice & helpful :D

:mad: My order arrived today with one wrong item and 4 missing items. I've called to tell them and they said they will be included with my next order. I asked for immediate replacements and was told no so now 3 customers have to wait 3 weeks for missing items  luckily one of them is my mother and she'll be ok :rotfl:

How annoying!!! Good job one was your Mum I guess! You can see why people order from the website....they should give a better service to their Rep's! I think that's why one of my sisters friends won't order through me, she orders her stuff through the website.
