Avon Hints and Tips (Part 2)

  • Hi

I work roughly about 30 hours a week but on a Monday I don't finish until 5pm, then get home about 5.30 - 6pm normally apart from this week. Then have to make dinner for everyone. Got other half to make dinner this week tho lol so I could make a start on orders. Just felt really worn out this week. Don't know why. My order is delivered in the afternoon and luckily my neighbour took it in for me this week and said she would do it again if need be, which is really nice of her. I am going to give her a freebie for helping me out. She is also a good customer.

I know what you mean about a bigger territory so you can use the books twice. With my first order I used the back order books for territory and the current ones for friends and family. Then I used the friends and family books for territory for second order if you know what I mean. This time I have got more territory so will use the current books for first territory and friends and family, as it is the mother's day book, also for part of my second territory as close to 1st territory. Then the back order books for the rest of new territory. I hope this is not confusing lol. I started off with 125 houses but now have another 200 new ones to do.

Your ASM should have called you on Friday if she said so but maybe she is not well. That's what happened with mine. Have you tried contacting her again? Did you call her when she didn't call on Friday? I was impatient to start with but now realise that if you keep pestering and waiting you will get it eventually, unless there isn't any new territory to give you. I hope I am not upsetting any ASM's or SL's on here. I am just speaking from experience. My ASM is a lovely lady who came out to me even when she had the beginnings of flu.

I am also thinking about doing parties eventually but my house is not big enough, so was thinking where could I do one that won't cost a lot of money? Do I book a room somewhere? I was thinking maybe if I ask my local working men's club if I could book a room and give them a percentage of the profit or ask how much it would cost for a couple of hours. I don't know but will have to look into it more. Can't be too far away for customers as they won't turn up. I was thinking shall I make it a theme, maybe a perfume party to start with or make-up or a mixture of everything? I'm no good at make-up make-overs unless my sister lets me try it out on her lol.

Anyway just realised the time I better get going to work and the repair men still didn't turn up!!

Have a good day everyone. :D

  • Snowwhite,

With regards to parties there is another way to do it. Pop a note in with your deliveries asking if and of your customers would like to host a party for their friends? Maybe a girly night in or a bday get together.

Well that was the ideas I had anyways. LOL
£2,000 by October 09 for Wedding got £500/£2,000
    Avon - C4=£170, C5=£194, C6=£119,
    C7=£60 (aim = £200, 60/200)
  • Just collecting in my books and got 4 orders. 1 of them is for £121.30 so I am well happy :D

Think Im up to about £300 now on C5 with a few orders expected tomo. Woohoo

If someone ordered a bargain bag from C4 sale book it goes with that xx

Hi all, *another* question for the experienced Avoners!!
How often do you order in one campaign? Do you just do the one then there's no extra cost or do you do it in bits? Also do you wait till last minute and do it on final day in case you get any last minute orders?? I think I have all mine in but you never know... :undecided

Sounds a little like me - when I started C4 was the current campaign, but only got given C3 books, so now I'm on C5, with some of my customers being on C4 as my SL had some books spare. If you can get used to having half your territory on the "old" books, and the other half on the "new" books - then you get the best use of your books, meaning that you make more money by spending a little less on books.

It isn't too bad back/forward ordering, I managed to do it a little this time, didn't get any freebies - but did manage to make myself an extra £11 by ordering things when they were cheaper but still charging the customers the full price for the catalogue that they ordered from!

Would like to be able to get some freebies though - I'm hoping from C5 I can get a handbag, and looking at C6 it would be nice to be able to get some make-up free :D
So if i've done all my C4 books now and have C6 books to put out... how would I start doing half and half? Won't half the customers go without until I get two lots of books together? Sorry if I'm sounding stupid but I don't get it??!
  • Personally, I only put in 1 order per campaign, but I guess if I had a really good order that the customer was in a hurry for, then I'd do an additional.

I'm currently putting out C5 books in my main area, but have kept their old C4 books to go out in my 'back order' area. Hence my order this time will comprise the C5 orders from area 1, and C4 orders from area 2. It really only works when you've got 1 previous campaign under your belt, and if you have 2 separate areas. Not stupid at all - it's just horribly complicated when you start!

Can anyone tell me how long you have to put in a back order as an additional, ie if you've just placed C5, when is the last time you can back order C4 as an additional order?

Have you only just started? If so - ask if you can have some C5 books as well for this time, then you can put half of your houses on C5 and the other half on C6. Thats what my lady did we me so that I could get the hang of splitting my territory right from the beginning. If you can't get any C5 books, then I guess you would have to leave half of your houses this time though, but it might be worth doing, as in the long run it will make things more profitable for you by using your books twice.

Quite pleased - managed to deliver most of my orders this morning - only 3 people not in. Which is annoying, especially as one of them lives on my street, and it had my address on the note - so if they didn't want to ring they could have popped a note through the door saying what time would be best. O well, they obviously want us to keep going to catch them, as they didn't put a phone number on their order form.

Still, got enough collected in now to get Avon paid :D
