    Im feeling very down about Avon atm, I dont know whether to carry on or not, I have no roads to do, most of my friends and family live miles away or abroad, I dont want to hassle my dog walking clients for orders every three weeks, as I feel that is unfair. I have no way of actually making the £76 or whatever it is to earn anything,

    My TL has suggested that I Ebay items, get a walking client to sign up so I can do her village ( 10 miles away ) which I dont really want to be hassling her into doing that for me.

    So what do I do?

    Kerriebaby - it's a shame you've been misled about territory and then been left stuck like that. You certainly shouldn't be expected to get clients to sign-up for you. Hopefully with SC's help with finding our your ASM, you'll be able to get some territory within walking distance.
    If I were in your position, I'd stick with it, even if it was just ordering my own bathroom essentials, (because with the rep books it's far cheaper than Tesco!) rather than using it as a viable income. Then keep badgering for new territory about once a month, and of course once you're driving things'll be easier. Of course when it does pick up, you'll have learned all the ins and outs and sneaky tricks and will be an old hand!
    Now I have a question:-

    Technically I'm on campaign 18, but was only given 6 of these brochures, but given 22 of campaign 17, which I was advised to use to canvass, cos no losses if I don't get them back cos they can't be used again next time, so that's what I've done. Most of the orders I've got have been on camp 17, but a couple are on the camp 18 sales brochure & at least one other order is camp 18. Will all these orders go through as camp 18 when I get round to doing them, or will they be split into 17 & 18? (I'm thinking about my commission levels if they are split).

    Wooosh, as other's have said, when you do the order, just click the drop down box on the left of where you enter the order number, to change it from 18 to 17. However, if a customer has ordered something from 17, and it's cheaper in 18, just order it from 18 and pocket the extra! Check it's not part of an offer they've taken advantage of in 17 first though. We all do the clever ordering to help bump up the commission.
    Hi avon ladies. I started doing avon 3 campaigns ago as the girl I used to buy from stopped and no-one at work did it. I only do colleagues so just small orders. What I wanted to ask was, how do you all manage not to spend a small fortune every brochure? I'll not make much money at this and didn't do it to make money but I'm spending more than I did before, mainly due to the demo stuff. I ended up buying 7 of the U offer as it was so good! (Justified this by telling myself that I would buy it at full price anyway and use the bags and cosmetics as gifts....)

    I really don't want to do the selling to neighbours thing, so I'm unlikely to increase my earnings. Please tell me it's the novelty and that I will stop buying so much!

    This is not really in the spirit of MSEing is it? I think I need help....

    Bumblebee - lol, we all do it! I've calmed down now by telling myself that there'll be plenty of offers to come, so there's no need to buy it all now.
    Also, now I've done a spreadsheet which works out exactly how much commission I've earned - so I know how much of that commission I'm spending.
    Thought I would just say Hi - I have just signed up and I love the hints and tips on this thread - Am taking my 1st lot of C18 books out tomorrow - only have 8 but have about 12 C1 - should I take them out too ??

    Thanks for your help

    Salsaaddict - When you sign up you should receive 20 books from the current campaign, and 20 books for the next campaign. If you've only been given 8 that's shoddy, get back in touch with whoever signed you up and get what's entitled to you. They get paid for the books they order on your behalf!

    Can someone show me a sample of there business cards im stuck for ideas and wording , thanks

    Deanos - my business card kinda reads like:
    <WEBSITEADDRESS>
    Look fabulous!

    <Name>
    Avon Representative
    <Telephone number>
    <Email>
    Wanna do what I do? Get in touch...
    I'll help you every step of the way

    BYOB = Be Your Own Boss!
    Buffy - I'm sure you won't, but get another opinion, and do send a letter. It's daft that you've got this hassle thanks to misinformation. Make sure you tell your AM how much trouble it's caused too.
    There's so much of this going on. Maybe we should all send a letter to Avon telling them how many of their people are giving out misinformation and that they should be ensuring their ASMs are properly informed.

    Hope this helps all!

    My delivery has gone to my old address. I've tried 3 times to change it on the website but to no avail :rolleyes2, so no delivery today. Poo.
    I'm hoping there'll be some great deals in C3, so I can push to customers that Avon is cheaper for decent bathroom essentials than the supermarkets!

    The coffee sachets are a genius idea!!!
    What i've been doing recently is using the sale items in the Hello Tomorrow brochure as freebies for customers. I've been ordering batches of anything thats on sale for 75p or less, writing "free gift with all orders over £10" on the bottom of each order form, then giving them as "gifts" with their next order. This is an incentive to try and get people to buy that little bit extra and up my sales so that I make the most out of the commission - and if it doesnt work I just return the items, or only do it when orders are low.

    I started doing that, but then if the customer really likes what you've given, they won't be able to get it again. Now I look for the 5 for £5 offers in the brochures, and order 5 of the most expensive things (even the shine pack in C17 was good). After commission it still works out at 75p, but you've probably got pricier stuff, and the customer can order it again.

    Ok, so I ordered 6 Bond Girl Moneymakers which need to be paid for in C17 (which I am paying on Saturday). I sold 5 and was going to send the 6th back but have just collected a C18 order and someone has ordered it.

    My question being ... I can't afford to pay the £10 money maker for the bond girl so can I do a credit for it, then I'll sell it in C18 and get the money for it. Will they then re-charge it when they don't receive it and then I'll just pay the £10? Does that even make sense ? hmmmmm :D

    Hi Melvis,

    Yeah thats right, if you sell it and mark it for return they will just recharge you after 36 says if they don't receive the return.

  • Hi everyone

    I have signed up for Avon this evening :) I have an area manager coming over on Monday to go through it all but just have some questions before. It sounds as though I've fallen quite lucky as the rep in our area is emigrating and apparently she has loads of customers that need a new rep.

    Aside from this I'd like to get as much business as possible so will canvass to get new leads. The only thing is I don't really want to knock on doors (that probably sounds really daft). I was wondering how much success others have had by just mail dropping and including a note with an option if they don't want the book again. I would love to speak 1to1 when I know they are interested but don't want to feelas though I'm harrassing or disturbing people. Will the AM try and talk me out of this or do they leave you toassess what's the best?

    Thanks

    Im gutted... just collected most of my money and come home and counted it to bag it up.... im £10 short :( Ive either lost it by dropping it in the dark, or one my customers has short changed me and i havent realised it in my rush :( (i had to get my mum to babysit my daughter while i delivered orders, and the baby isnt well and she was screaming and holding her arms out to me as i left so didnt wanna be too long) This means im down £10 out my commission now.. :(

    Also out of the 68 books i needed to collect today 36 people didnt leave them out.... but i havent had time to knock for them... and out of those who DID leave their books out only 4 ordered... and i need to go back to two of them because they missed offers!

    Starting to question if its really all worth it.
  • Hi Miss. This is my first campaign & my SL just encouraged a brochure drop, which I've done. I enclosed an introductory letter, explaining I was their new rep & this is my name, address & phone number & asking them to leave the brochure out in the sealed bag provided on such & such a date & that I'd deliver any orders on such & such a date. I did a little form at the bottom for them to fill in if they didn't want any more books but although I've got most of my books back, not one person so far has filled that in, so they'll get books next time at least ;)

    Good luck !!!!
  • Hi MissL2 and welcome to our madhouse! :wave:

    If you've read this thread right through, you'll know that many people on here do knock on doors, and have a lot of success with it. However, I'm with you in not being keen to knock on doors, and just putting brochures through the door has been quite successful for me since I started just over a year ago. I've just put in a C18 order for around £500 so I must be doing something right :D

    Put a note on first time, introducing yourself and offering them the option not to have more books (pm me your email addy if you want to crib the one I used ;) ) You'll get to know your customers in time anyway, and some of us are cut out to be 'stuffers' rather than 'knockers' :tongue:

    Don't worry too much about your ASM - you're your own boss here!

  • Well I have just finished sorting out my order that came today. All 8 boxes of it. I have to wait for LO to go to bed before I can do it so it has sat all afternoon in my living room teasing me :D

    Just popping out tomo to get labels for the printer so I can put delivery dates on the brochures the lazy way :p

    Doing my last canvess of my estate this campaign, Im including a tick sheet so I can see who does want the book and who doesnt. Doing this as I've asked for more roads after xmas but dont want to spend a fortune on brochures.

    Anyway just got to deliver the orders and collect money for the next couple of days so hoping everyone has thier money ready!!! :rolleyes:

    OMG is that the time.:eek: Im off to bed. Nite all :hello:
