Hi Tixy,
Thanks for your reply. I have called MH They were very abusive on the phone to me and they have said that they will hold my account for 3 weeks, if no payment has been made then they will take further action and have baliffs to come to the property. I have called Vodaphone they never recived any correspondence from Experto to say I had paid the debt and have continued to sell it to recovery agencies. I am going to send letters to all parties I have alos informed watchdog aswell to see if this can speed up the process obtaining the proof from experto as they are saying im ot on their system anymore such a pain that I dont need.0 -

And don't bother phoning them get everything in writing.0 -
My advice you are wasting your time talking to them. They have already been put on notice by the OFT, see http://www.oft.gov.uk/news/press/2009/44-09, yet are obviously ignoring that and still pursuing the same dirty tricks.
I suggest anyone similarly harassed, either under the name Mackenzie Hall, or one of the names they hide behind, to inform the OFT as per link above:
I agree completely - also send copy to Financial Ombudsman (FOS)
Actually, might work better as a complaint to FOS, with a copy to OFT - see Magpie Cottage's post0 -
I actually feel like i was just saved by this forum.
I was AT WORK... when a caller asked if they could speak to me. I said "Speaking" - this guy, a Mr. James said that i had to confirm my address with him, to which i stated i was at work and that i would not confirm any details with him. I do not have a clue what this means or what it is in connection with but i dont trust them and have never heard what they were on about.
He was pulling off information from the electoral register which does not even correlate to me... saying that unless I had a twin, i had done these actions and he was rude! I mis-fed him information, said that i was recording the call and would have notified him sooner if i had been able to get a word in edge-ways and that he would have to call back on my mobile number. I gave my mobile number correctly to avoid having these calls to me at work!
I have printed off that text, put on my reference number, signed and posted it to him. I hope this nips it in the bud before anything else.
Lets keep our fingers crossed!!!0 -

Oh and just to point out. This was a debt i ran up when i was a student and could not afford to do anything. It was for the purchase of a car but as soon as i could not afford to keep the car, i gave it back, paid some money (well over £2,000) and then received a letter saying i owed £6,000 - this was back in 2003... i have not heard anything from them in over 6 years and i dont intend to have any more contact with them or from them.0 -
once a debt is statute barred it is statute barred forever and can not be unbarred even if you took out a full page in a national newspaper and told the world this debt was yours it would still be statute barred and unenforceable through the courtsGRADUATED FIRST CLASS WITH HONORS FROM THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS RECOMENDED READ IF BY RUDYARD KIPLING0

A debt collection agency that piles onn all kinds of charges. They usually work for pay day loans and when you think you are rid of them they bombard you with threatening letters. Seek advice from CBA as if it was over 6 years ago I dont think they stand a chance.Hello all,
First of all congrats on a great forum. I have just stumbled accross it myself but I think it was destined for my favourites list!
Right, back to business. I was wondering if someone can help me.
I have just received a letter from a company called "Mackenzie Hall" who have sent a "Final Notice" for a debt of £196.
They state they have bought this debt from "Creation Fianancial Services"
I called the number and was told that they can only tell me that it was for a store card whose last activity was in 1997 and the first three letters is SEL. (Selfridges Perhaps)
Now I did have a card around this time with Selfridges but thought that given its been over six years the debt had been written off. I requested more information that they said they will call me back with but I refused to give them my telephone number and told them that any further correspondence should be in writing.
I am not excusing myself for the foolish antics of a university student but am wondering to myself if Mackenzie Hall can chase up a debt from that long ago.
My nest step was goign to be to get a copy of my credit record but I am not sure if it would be worth it given that it holds info for 6 years only.
I guess I am looking for advice and to find out if anyone has had dealing with Mackenzie Hall before.. (I have done a search but found nothing in the forum).
Help greatly appreciated.

Hi lauzyloubee
Handling debt is stressful at the best of times but the thought of being asked to pay the same money twice I'd imagine to be quite scary.
If this is still unresolved for you I'd like to see if there is anything I can do to help. You can send me an email from here with a link to this thread and your username and I'll investigate. Make sure you include the code WRT135 in the subject line so your email comes straight to my team.
All the best

Hi all,
Didn't want to start a new thread - so I'm raising a query tacked on the end of this Mackenzie Hall thread (hope that's ok).
DH received a letter this morning from Mackenzie Hall stating they are attempting to contact 'the above named person', Yes - it is my DH's name in the letter, but that's it - no other identifying information, eg date of birth. There is a client reference number we don't recognise (8 digits so could be a bank account no.). The letter then goes on to state if you are the above named person please contact our office immediately etc. etc.
What should we do in response to this letter?
Clearly they are chasing a debt - but if (and only if) it did belong to DH then it must be over 15 years old. We have lived here that long and whilst we have loads of debt it has always been paid. Prior to that we did live in another county and did have troubles meeting repayments (early 90's recession and extortionate interest rate hikes every month). However, we believe that all debts had been cleared (sold the house to enable us to do this at the time). I have got any paperwork relating to debts that far back.
I've checked his file with Equifax and it is sparkling clean....full of debts yes (see my signature:o), but always paid on time. I have checked this morning with the registrytrust and there are no CCJs showing for either the old or current address for DH.
My initial instinct is to ignore this 'phishing' letter - but a niggling doubt tells me that MH will try to contact us again unless we deal with this now. Any advice on what action we should take would very gratefully received.NR [STRIKE]£5542[/STRIKE]£2771 BC [STRIKE]£7987[/STRIKE]£7700 BC [STRIKE]£3000[/STRIKE]£5100 Cat1 Pd Cat2 Pd Ulstr [STRIKE]£3400[/STRIKE]£3070 TSB [STRIKE]£4851[/STRIKE]£4400 MBNA [STRIKE]£7700[/STRIKE]£3887 NWst [STRIKE]£950[/STRIKE] £700 Hfx [STRIKE]£10097[/STRIKE]£10050 Asda [STRIKE]£398[/STRIKE] £315 HFX1 Pd Hfx2 [STRIKE]£3133[/STRIKE] £3000
