This was never sold in the UK and I don't think it was sold in Europe either (I imagine yours is a Jap import) so it won't have any parts stocked for it, which will push up the cost. But then your not likely to see one sitting next to you at the traffic lights either.0 -

We have a couple of those come to us. Yes - Jap import, but lets not be dramatic for goodness sake. We get lots of Jap imports all the time..
The Integra is very nice!
Roadhog - you are being an ar5e and talking out of it too. If you get a good independent garage, then they will service according to what the car needs - if you have not found that, then you are going to the wrong places.Genie

You're the one talking out of your !!!!. I stated a fact, Honda (UK) did not import this car in to the UK. I also stated that I "believe" that it wasn't imported in to Europe. For those reasons, Gent (the main parts centre for Europe) will not stock the parts and they will either be third party or imported. I also said I believed it would be a Jap import (for RHD) which is also liekly to be true.
I didn't need to have my car serviced, it was supplied to me free of charge and changed every 3 months.
I fail to see where I am talking out of my ar5e.0 -

You don't know the facts and you are 'assuming' that the parts are imported, implying that it will be difficult to service and maintain!
It isn't - there are a number of them over here - regularly serviced without any hassle. We get various imports in all the time. You're making an issue out of nothing.Genie

Oh okay JB, the difference is you're making it up, and I worked for the said company for many years.
Plus if you read the post by the Integra owner, you'll see he said it wasn't cheap, but there you go. Stop making a fool of yourself.0 -

Oh you can change the car for something newer if you like, but don't do that on the assumption that you'll be saving money - you won't.
Better the devil you know. If you've had a car 10 years and it needs £1000 of work, that £1000 might just last you another 5 years. How much would the newer car have depreciated by in that time? A lot more, that's how much.
Unfortunately for you, you have not read properly or fail to understand what was being said.
1: Spending less do not always mean less servicing - getting a better price from another garage would mean u are spending less with the same servicing.
2: Servicing is a good idea of course on all cars especially older cars, however spending a lot on an old car where one may plan to change soon is not money saving.
3: Most old car owners normally would like to get a newer car in the very near future, the money savers would choose a newer car that took most of the big depreciation hit already 3-5 years old cars.
Of course a newer car would depreciate more than an older car of the same model, however the newer car would would probably make people feels better in many ways - image, style, wealth - and for better reasons - better comfort and safety features.
For me what I want from my next 'newer' car that my current 11 yrs old car haven't got is:
Air con
ABS
Remote Central locking
Electric mirrors
Heated front screen
I can get a small car with the above features at 5 years old which has taken the majority depreciation already. Oh yes it will depreciate a little more than my current older similar car, but the comfort and luxury will outweight the extra depreciation cost for me.
Better the devil u know - could get big repairs bills from the newer car I heard you say? Oh yes I would need to get a car which has been regularly serviced and check the car over with my basic motoring knowledge or pay a fee for the AA/Rac check - this would of course helps to keep any big bills down in the future!0 -
You may have worked for them for many years... actually that would make more sense as to why you know so little.Oh okay JB, the difference is you're making it up, and I worked for the said company for many years.

Getting parts for the integra is not difficult at all. Naturally any performance car's parts may be slightly higher when it comes to say, brakes and a fully synthetic oil. But the filters etc, well they'll be similar to a plain old Honda.
And you don't have to have genuine parts either - plenty of good OE pattern parts available.
Do your research before taking me on.Genie

Think it will have to be a Ford or a Mini if you want that screen AFC!Unfortunately for you, you have not read properly or fail to understand what was being said.

Oh grow up child, "taking you on".
Here are a couple of simple facts, the owner commented on his service of the Integra was more, he is speaking from experience and you can't argue with that. I backed that up by telling him why it would be more expensive, because it isn't a parallel import is a grey import.
Both of the above comments are fact and you can't argue with them. Parallel imports are going to be more expensive than vehicles imported by the manufacturer, one because there will be a natural supply of parts and secondly the market will be bigger because they will have been imported in volume as opposed to a handful and therefore the economies of scale and supply will kick in. Thirdly, it is not a middle of the road car, therefore it is going to be more expensive to service.
Now, wind your neck back in.0
