Thoughts on the model below please from Tesco Direct @ £399 (so called £100 off), p&p etc to be added :

    Acer Aspire 5732Z Laptop (Intel Pentium® Dual Core T4300, 4GB, 500GB, 15.6" Screen, Windows 7 Home Premium)

    http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-6879.aspx

Am also drawn to the double points as we use these towards holidays (4 x face value) but the laptop quality and performance is the first priority.

Um, the t3100 IS dual core

Ok, apologies....just didn't state that on the website, I wanted to make sure that there were no mistakes.

If its for everything general except latest gaming then its fine, not a bad machine at all. How much is 798 clubcard points worth?

This ones a tiny bit faster, but 'only' 250gb HD. Made by asus so will last a while.

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/189888

£398 inc delivery, but you won't go wrong with either.

    Edit-

This one isn't bad either. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/186603

Not quite as quick as the t4300, but the graphics chipset is a bit better, and games such as sims 3 will at least be playable at native res.

I have just reserved the Toshiba L500 1XJ for my son, just thought I would ask opinions on whether it is good value for money.
Also for info, Toshiba offer a 2 year extended guarantee for £52 which I think is great value, giving the laptop 3 years cover overall.

    Cost £379.99

My opinion is that I thought it was good value due to the 320gb hard drive and dual core processor.

I have bought this now & it will be opened tomorrow, will let you know what its like.
My laptop is an Acer & to be honest I am not that impressed with it, hence changing manufacturer.
    Comping from May 2012 :D

Thank you to all that post & contribute, I think you are wonderful, I could not achieve without your help :)

I bought the Asus X5DIJ Laptop....and had to send it back. Was riddled with faults. I had a couple of blue screens in the first hour of using it, IE crashed constantly etc etc. I'm sure I just got a dud one, but it still left a bitter taste....

If i could pick from one of the following laptops which is the better buy,say i could get them all at the same price of £399 which one would it be,or why?
I need a new laptop and was thinking of the 3 below, but on the specs im not sure which is the better of the three and value for money.

Many thanks for the response. Noticed model is also available on ebuyer for circa £398 so price is obviously average. Thought the reduced from £499 must have been a selling point.

Tesco points details at the link below. 500 points is £5 but points worth 4 x value with partners and that is how we generally do holidays - Virgin and couple of others participate (Cosmos maybe).

798 is therefore £8 so £24 towards Tesco reward with partner or view as laptop for £375.

Every little helps and all that!!

I am confused as there is a circa £200 price span between the items in your post. Unless you are stating you will spend up to £499 if the model gives the best VFM?
