What does anyone think of this from Amazon?
Acer Aspire 5532 15.6-inch Notebook AMD Athlon X2 L310 Processor, 4GB RAM, 320GB, DVD, Windows 7 Home Premium
I know its a bit cheaper on other sites but I have £200 of Amazon vouchers so need to buy from there. Any thoughts? Thanks0 -

You can do much better than this - I just looked up the processor, and it's pretty underpowered. Your average netbook will have a CPU benchmark score of ~300, and this laptop has a CPU benchmark score of 669. You can do a lot better than merely twice as powerful as a netbook. I would reject it from this point alone. You can see for yourself on this easy to read page: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
Secondly, Acer aren't known for reliability.
Basically despite the customer reviews saying "fast", the reviews aren't favourable for this model. Maybe you could do some more searching, and see what else you can get at the same price point.
Edit: This processor is intended for ultra-lightweight/portable laptops, so it seems a bit misused in a laptop with a battery life of 2.5hrs. The amazon page doesn't mention the weight as far as I can see, so this computer seems strange to me. You can see what notebookcheck says about this processor here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Athlon-X2-L310-Notebook-Processor.23737.0.html0 -

Thoughts on the value of any of the laptops at the above link appreciated folks. Looking for something for my daughter who will start her options next year and is doing a creative and media diploma as part of her school work.
The usual usage (MS Office equivalent, internet (Facebook, Youtube) and probably media files) for a secondary student anticipated.

Thanks JDP but what about the actual laptops - are they any good and are the prices reasonable? Or should I be looking elsewhere?
Thanks in advance0 -
Thanks Russ - no need for gaming etc so keep on looking elsewhere I guess. Video might be handy but will have a look around for now.0
