Is the 3 year extension any good?...When we repair kitchen appliances, we carry parts on the van so we should be able to repair on our first visit...
A good value warranty from DSG Group? Pigs flying? I've got no idea whether this is good or not but a. I'd rather not have a refurb in the first place b. if you do go for it (excellent price £229) you do get a 12 months warranty which is unusual on its own.
If you'd also prefer new and like the idea of extended warranties, find a cheap Acer Aspire and get 3 years cover for £30. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130533991522If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
Is the 3 year extension any good? It states on their website this:
We’ll come to you
If we can’t fix your problem over the phone, we can visit you within 2 working days after your call (in most places in the UK).
When we repair kitchen appliances, we carry parts on the van so we should be able to repair on our first visit.
For computers and TVs, if we can’t solve the problem in your home, we’ll pick it up and take it to our specialist lab to repair.
But gives no indication of how long it may be at their specialist repair centre, does any one have any experience of this (it is called WHATEVER HAPPENS).
It states repair or replace within 21 days. The more expensive Premium service states 7 days.0 -
£348 i3-2410M. There's now a trickle if 2nd gen i3s coming in at under £350. Also get the Acer Aspire 3 year warranty for £30.

Cheap laptops on Dixons site.
http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/refurbished-laptops/117_1101_10102_xx_xx/xx-criteria.html?sSortInfo=price-asc
It also takes 25% off at checkout.
Can anyone reccommend the refurbs at about £200. Just a light user with no games. Hopefully there is a bargain amongst that lot.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -

I bought the Toshiba C660 i3 laptop for £349.90 for my daughter from Argos (mentioned ealier in this thead as a good deal). It wasn't the best i3 deal available but my daughter was keen on a Toshiba and the keyboard layout. The number pad is useful, I have to agree. Just thought I would mention that it also qualifies for the Toshiba Rugby World Cup promotion with the possibility of cashback for points scored. I don't know anything about rugby but am hoping for some cashback to make the laptop an even better deal.0

similar cheaper option here

its not the i3, but its dual core, and there isn't really any difference noticeable to most people, ghz and what not don't really come into play unless its a big jump, or unless your a video editor or gamer, but then your talking 1000's for something that really makes a difference (if im spending more, i like to have more noticeable features then a game loading a second quicker, id rather save 50 quid!)
Personally, this deals excellent

the battery only goes 3.33 hrs, but more battery time, generally means heavier laptop! but its dual core, and amd and intel have no difference performance wise, iv had both.
The i5 in an earlier post was a good deal, but again, it's not the quad-core i5.... it's the dual core version, and its only onboard intel graphics..... the aspire 5552 has ati hd which are better.
It generally comes down to looks in the end, my fiancee spent more and got less just because she wanted her netbook in white! and im sure you'll be fine with any of the deals here0 -

£199 (refurb - class+ del
Celeron SU2300
4gig ram
320gb HD
radeon 4530
15.6"
6hr battery
No speed demon compared to the i3 laptops, but for £199, itsnot bad for general internet stuff, office and even some basic gaming like sims 3 and full HD playback over hdmi.0
