Can I ask for thoughts on this please? We are looking to buy a laptop for a gift this month and the top budget is £250 and it is for a laptop and not a netbook. It is for general internet use, studying (she is doing an NVQ so bog standard Word type packages), uploading photos etc

If it is not seen as worth buying, any 250 or less laptop recommendations would be really useful. We were looking at the Fujitsu at 249 at Asda discussed on HDUK but it isn't available any more.

Could anyone please comment on these 2 models:

    1. Toshiba Satellite C660-1LD 15.6 inch laptop intel core i3-380M, 4GB, HDD 640 GB.
Cannot provide link as I am a new member but it's available on Amazon site for £369.99. Also had a related question. Do laptops purchased on amazon come with a 1-2 years warranty which is included in the price or warranty has to be purchased separately?

    2. Acer Aspire 5742 i5-480M 3GB 15.6 HDW7HP available on dabs site for £399?

I hope Burlesque Babe managed to order one. :) None had been sold at the time of posting. Now they are all gone. They were good value for under £200.

This offer has appeared on Groupon. Can I please have advice on whether or not it's a good deal. I'm interested in buying a laptop for my son for GCSE work.

It isn't... The warranties are good, but the laptop is very average.

Have bought lots of low cost items such as beauty and meal vouchers from Groupon without any problems but wary of making such a big purchase. This site is just fantastic for experts with common sense so thank you all. :T You can take it I won't be buying the laptop!
