Hi Folks have an Acer Aspire 5920 laptop, nearly 5 years old, top of the range in it's time. Can recommend! :D

Acer Direct has Acer Aspire 5942G, 4 GB - fast and great pic. clear screen - need it as eyes not so good these days. Saving £400, was £949.97 now £549.97. Link http://www.acerdirect.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_5942G_Core_i5_Laptop_LX.PZY02.082/version.asp. Laptop set up and check extra £30, 28 days free tec. support, free Webroot essential security with updates for a year. As I see, this laptop has not been selling due to the high price, reduction on most websites. Price now comparable with other Acer laptops but with better functions and added extras worth having - worth a look! :)

Happy weekend folks! Happy Fathers day too all Dads! :D

I am looking for a new laptop to do some design work, web design, etc. I wondered whether you could recommend anything in the sub-£350? Is it implausible to consider such a low limit? I spend 1round £600 about 3 years ago on a Latitude D830 which only has 76GB, 1GB RAM. I also have XP Pro. I beleive Pro is better than Home editions of software... is that right?

Your existing laptop should be capable of it, if hard disk space is a problem, replacement hard disks are cheap

Quite expensive but here's a fully loaded 17inch Samsung (i3-380M, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 640GB disk) for £400. (half price warranty extension offer is still on too)

All recommendations look pretty good. I was wondering about the upgrade of the HDD though, would I have to take the motherboard type into consideration? Can anyone recommend any protocol to follow, might give the HDD replacement a try, but when I have a few bits of software open things to do slow down quite significantly, so uessing there is a RAM issue.

Too well specced for that! But if it fits the budget buy it. I'd get a 3 year warranty too. Cheap one here -> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130533991522

Well we're a new business and don't want to spend more than necessary, but want something reliable and speedy - can you suggest something cheaper? He's had two Dells in the past, as have I, but I get the feeling you can get more for less with other brands... Thanks for any advice :)
  • Hello people,
