Re: Asus X52F for £310. Very good. Asus are supposed to be reliable. About £50 cheaper than everywhere else. As a review on Amazon says "excellent for everyday use"

I'm meant to be finding a new laptop for a colleague for general office work, email & internet...
Would this be ok for my needs?
I want to be able to download music and films to my ipod and transfer video from my camera to put on dvd.0 -

Too many questions... The Ebuyer Acer costs £350; its a powerful laptop but I'd have to have a 3 year warranty with it. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130533991522
OR for £370 buy this which has the warranty included. And a bigger disk. Cashback claiming is a pain but is with Lenovo rather than the retailer. http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lenovo-i3-380m-win-64-4gb-ram-500gb-hdd-3-year-next-day-warranty-370-saveonlapto/961695
For lower budgets you don;t really need an i3-380M. Most new laptops will enable you to "download music and films to my ipod and transfer video from my camera to put on dvd". In which case buy a cheap Acer BUT still buy the 3 year warranty extension above.
e.g. for £250 http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/brand-new-acer-aspire-5552-laptop-amd-athlon-dual-core-2-2ghz-3gb-ram-320gb-hdd/961579
Note that cheap Acer reliability is being reported as poor (but the 3 year warranty mitigates that to a certain extent).0 -

Sorry! Any pointers are really helpful, and we do appreciate your advice
I've now looked at the Asus posted above and think that might be a good alternative (if the Lenovo wasn't red I may have considered it!)
Thanks again0 -
