Guess it's a bit fiddly if you haven't done that sort of thing before.
Shame to scrap it, as it's good enough.0 -
I wish I could fix it myself but I am def not up to the job - I asked the IT bloke at my work and he looked at it and said get Dell to do it he said an independent shop would prob be a similar price anyway.
If I got a new laptop I would sell it on ebay I reckon I could get £100 for it in the current condition??
But if a new laptop is not going to be much faster I should just get it fixed really.0 -
post a picture, how did this happen?
If you can use a screwdriver, you can probably fix it.!!

It just happened over time - I googled it and it seems to be a common problem on the Dell Studio. I am not confident about connecting all the wires and stuff up. I'll try and get a pic.0

If you haven't mistreated it, you may be able to claim a free repair under the sale of goods act.!!

An i3 laptop for £290. The bad news - its an eMachines(Acer) which may not be the most reliable and the hard disk is quite small. (It has an HDMI port though.)

However, if reliability is a concern you can get a 2 year warranty extension (to 3 years) for £45, making total cost £335.
