Well I'm down to 2 and have decided to discount the Acer:o
It's this http://www.coopelectricalshop.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?ProductCode=ASU-COM-K52F_EX658V-BR&tduid=08621555ad8397192596bbf853821c90
(Just wish it had larger RAM and don't know about Asus customer service? I've read a few poor reviews and not sure if return costs are down to the customer if repairs are needed?)
Or this

Hi all. Can anyone give me advice on this laptop..

Its for my 12 year old son who's Dell laptop is on its way out, so desperatley need to replace asap. He would be using it for gaming mainly. I know that it only has Duel-core Celeron, but this is the same as his Dell laptop and he never complained about that. I just thought for £300 it seemed quite cheap. I really don't want to spend much more than that0 -

Yep on its way out. Have spent more money repairing/replacing parts over the last 12 months than i actually paid for it. Keyboard now needs replacing. Nothing installs once downloaded and now antivirus have vanished (presume this is a virus). Cant even system restore. Needs a new battery or charger....again! Also makes a popping sound when being shut down. So i have finally lost the will to live it and refuse to spend anymore time/money trying to fix the heap of junk0

The software issue is easily fixed, factory restore, takes 10 minutes. Hardware, if it's under 3 years old and hasn't been mistreated, and they are actually hardware faults - sale of goods act. Scroll back a few pages and check the reliability graph with HP at the bottom!!
> . !!!! ----> .0 -
Yeh i know the software isnt a problem to sort. As for being mistreated, then it probably has. Been dropped a few times :-(. It is aprox 3 years old now and i have changed all sorts of bits and bobs.
And yes....i have been looking at this thread all afternoon and did come across the graph you mentioned. So HP is a possible no......but it is a good price and cant see anything else the same for the same price :-(. Maybe need to up my budget (*sobs in corner*)0 -
Blimey, I cannot keep up with all the i3-380M (et al) deals today. Definately the start of a big sell-off of these laptops.
Anyway, you can also get 8% off with Quidco (until the 18th) making this £321ish. Shame a. its Packard Bell (not a great reputation) and b. its red.If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
