Sounds like an excellent plan; you could always decide on "minimal" cash need and draw additional there / use the credit card for the purchases. This may assist in reducing the "stress" of watching the exchange rates?

Think I might try to unsubscribe myself soon, I'll give it till after Xmas Frazzmunch

Thanks for the thought Earthgirl and good idea Stuart!

I've done my daily clicks today and have some lentil soup defrosting at home.

Finally got to go through the freezer and cupboards, tidy'd them out and have started a list of what can be made from the contents. Was surprised at how much meat was in the freezer!

i must admit that i am beginning to wonder about the wisdom of being on a lot of these survey sites....i seem to spend an awful lot of time filling stuff in and not getting anything in return....or perhaps thats because i am so disorganised i can't remember what i have done and for whom!!!:rotfl:

I like Pigsback, Toluna and Lightspeed cause I can see the points adding up. I haven't got round to ordering anything though quidco yet. I'm sure I will when I figure out what I need for Xmas!

Valued Opinion is one of the ones I like and seems to work for me... I've had ~£50 in vouchers from them this year and I'm up to £3 odd with £1-50 pending again as of this morning. I have had one of the surveys I completed go awol but when emailed they sorted it immediately :D . If I qualify and complete the survey I save the invite to a folder in my email and delete it once it has paid out so I have a reasonable idea of what should be showing as pending! It is a bit annoying having to wait a month for the money to pay out into claimable funds though... Did you notice that sometimes if you don't qualify there is a link to check if there are any other surveys available to you? I get quite a few this way! I just wish that they had wanted me for the £50 one I qualified for the 1st part of a few weeks ago :o sadly they never contacted me about the next bit  Sob!!

Lightspeed is also good. I seem to get quite a few from them (though their email if you have any problems "help" email address is not helpful at all  )
    Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

I have no rewards in Valued Opinions but 83 Prize Draw enteries. Do you think I need to give them more time?

A quiet day again today. Exchange rate has gone up to 1.53. Its very grey outside too.

On a brighter note...I came up with a good pressie for OH. :T But I can't tell you what it is cause he knows who I am here (not that I think he'd bother to look - but you never know) Apparently the bro wants lifting weights for Xmas, OH has got some so I'll polish them up and they'll bulk out his pressie(s)

Off to art tonight where hopefully I'll get my £40 for painting sold and then off to Asda after. Only need a weeks fresh food so fingers crossed the bill will be low.

Yesterday's grocery shop went well with a few 5p bargins snapped up. :j Batch cooking of Leek and Potato Soup to come!

OH saw some apple turnovers that he wanted but I said I would make some if only he would peel and chop the apples (:o yes, there are still a few left from the first batch and I got another bag too.) So when he comes home tonight I'll the apples and peeler all ready for him :D

Ages ago I mentioned that Southern Electric owed us £120, still not having got round to getting it off them I have written a note on my hand to get it sorted tonight. Plan is still to put £60 of it on the Argos card to get a heated clothes dryer and a BBQ for a Xmas pressie. I WILL GET THIS DONE!

I have cashed the cheque received from art and so when that clears I'll have £200 spending money for NY. £100 short of what I orginally wanted but hey ho, maybe there'll be some £ hiding in the sofa

    Plan for this weekend is...

    Tidy house
    Plant plants
    Paint fence
    Help do decking
Make apple turnovers, mushroom pie, leek and potato soup
    Go through spreadsheets

Hopefully, I'll be able to cross most off the list - would need a major personality adjustment to hope for all! :rotfl: There's a fireworks show on tomorrow night so if its nice and dry I intend to treat myself to a toffee apple ;)

Hope everyone else has a good weekend!

  • Ola!!! Wowsers - NY!!!! I love the place! My DH took me there for my 30th as a surprise, and proposed at the top of the empire state building!!! I would give anything to go back! I hope you have a smashing time bud!!!!

We've been bargain shopping too on the ol' veg and making vats of soup - it's great!!!! Tonight is a veggie curry and rice. You sound like you have a v organised weekend in front of you - remember to schedule in time for beer and relaxation!!! lol! I've just got home from work and resisted the urge to sit down, and blitzed the housework. Have made myself a huge pile of washing, but heyho! i intend to do nothing this weekend, first time in weeks we haven't had a gig! :T

have a fun and prosperous weekend!

:happyhear That's soo lovely! How did your lazy weekend go?

    Tidy house - half done
    Plant plants - none done
    Paint fence - not done
Help do decking - half done
Make apple turnovers, mushroom pie, leek and potato soup - making pie tonight
Go through spreadsheets - I did "look" at them :o

To be fair we got rained off when in the garden, actually I spent the whole weekend soaked through  Was a good excuse for a couple of drinks and a takeaway thou ;)

The potato & leek soup is yummy and I've plans for French Onion soup and Squash soup to use up what's in the house.

I did get round to ringing Southern Electric today I admit and just over £120 is on its way to the joint account, apparently you only get the 10% off the Argos card if you pay by card not by just transferring the money across so hey ho that'll have to be done when we get back.

The poor pound seems to have taken a beating and the exchange is down to 1.49  It has been suggested that we transfer our spending money to OH's bros account and take money out when over there - any thoughts?

Gosh, I can't quite believe that we're off on Saturday.

I think I may have made an oopise with my credit card, I'm pretty sure that it needs to be paid off today so of course I've left it at home, and now I'm doubting that today was the deadline - what if it was yesterday? oh dear oh dear oh dear

Will let you know the verdict tomorrow

I managed to miss a payment when going on holiday in August, only the second time in some 26yrs (gulp, makes me old....)

One thing that "caught" me out was the interest charged the following month; I paid in a lot extra initially (to cover initial interest and missed payment charge) and on the next month waited till 4 working days before payment due and paid. I was charged more interest because "you lose the interest free period"...

If you have missed it, do consider paying the next one as soon as it is issued.
Fingers crossed you have the date wrong...

    Enjoy the Big Apple.
