    Thanks TPA :)

    Hi pammy :)

We definitely need a five door car so that we can a car seat fitted and actually be able to use it. If I sit in the back I have to be pulled out :rotfl: Our current car is over 10 years old and needs something fixed yearly now.

I admit I'm very tempted to leave the bathroom till next year as its perfectly functional but mouldy with paint flaking off... going to get some lunch and have a think

    Hi SmlSave!

Hope you are well? (How was your xmas dinner - did it all work out ok?)

Just read about your car.. OH & I both lease our cars..3 years deal, covered by warranty.. It might be an option for you as deposits are usually very low or even nil...and you would spread the costs of it over 3 years, instead taking the whole hit in 2011? After 3 years, we can either buy the car, get a new lease, or just hand the car back in with no penalties... Might be worth considering among other options...

    Cheers

I had tiles falling of my bathroom walls, always when I was in the shower, so I ended up with bruised toes

It was only when I started dating BF that the shame got to me about the bathroom as I had a selection of carrier bags taped over the missing tiles to stop the water getting behind the rest

The first time I saved up the money to get the bathroom done I went out and bought a car instead, so there must be some link between bathrooms and cars. But my dad did say "You can't go to work in a bathtub"

:rotfl: Radish about your old bathroom!

Good luck SmlSave for 2011 - I'm sure you will make it work (and let us know how you do!). How is the pregnancy going? Regarding the bathroom, ours gets mouldy, mainly on the ceiling. OH scrubs the ceiling with bleach, it is now starting to flake so he will scrub and sand it down, and then repaint with specific bathroom paint (doesn't absorb the moisture). An idea for you, as for the price of £20-£40 of paint it might get you through the next year, especially if there is not too much else wrong with it!

We're also planning to get a new (to us) car this year. Any idea on which one you might go for (I was about to type flavour, which shows how much I know about cars!).

Hi smlsave, I'm currently trying to decide whether to do the bathroom, We had decided to do it and found a great site thanks to museumworker (victoria plumb!) but I don't know if I can bring myself to spend the money. I definaltly would go for the new car if you need a five door for bubs though, it will make life easier, more so when they are a toddler and don't want to get in the seat and go rigid, no leaning over the back seat!

Until recently we had 2 five doors but now DH has a 3 door and when i have it it's not easy with DD and don't plan to drive it much when we have another. It's so hard to prioritise when lots of things need doing.

We did the bathrooms a few years ago and spend a lot of money to get what we wanted. Labour is the most expensive thing of the whole cost so you think why fit cheap tiles when you can have expensive ones and on it goes and the price goes up. I am happy we spend what we did rather than compromise saving an extra £500 and ending up with something thats OK but not amazing is not for me. Expensive taste unfortunately. I would wait if you can bear it another year.

As for the car agree you need a realiable one that doesn't break down, DH has often bought Demo models from dealers loads cheaper but also some friends have looked into leasing and if you don't do a lot of miles it makes sense.

Am hoping to be able to afford the bathroom at the end of this year... Have a student whos a plumber and will do a ;) job everything for about £2000.... I dont need the bathroom doing, everything works fine, its just after 10 years being here and inheriting everything, time for a facelift. So far we're having new radiators, overhaul the garden and bathroom this year then kitchen next possibly?

    Ohhhhh, hi guys! :)

Umm, how do you lease a car Froggy? :o

lol and ow at the same time Radish! Thankfully ours isn't that bad yet.

I may suggest sanding down and repainting the walls to DH museumworker, I'll let you know what he says.
He really wants another Ford Focus.

It definitely, 100% has to be a five door CathT and newgirly and Fords are known (apparently) for their reliability and being generally easy to get new parts for.

I'll get my labour free TPA, courtesy of FIL. :p He's done all the bathrooms at his and they are fab/gorg. I'm budgeting £3000 as everything will be removed including the ceiling and plaster from the walls.

Did you mention new radiators on purpose DansMum, did you? How I would love to have a new boiler and radiators. Do you have big plans for what you want to do with the garden?

Hi greent :) I'll post a pregancy update and a mortgage thoughts update laters...maybe tomorrow as I'm going swimming although I may fall asleep mid stroke
