My new mantra will be ...'it will even out in the end, it will even out in the end'...
It has to now as I've just spent an hour of my life of the phone fixing my mortgage at 5.09% for five years. phew. I knocked another ten months off too so our mortgage payment will be £705p/m.
Here's hoping I've done the right thing
I wasn't too stressed about the rates going up Baby steps until I saw the latest MSE News! At least I now have the security of knowing what's coming out.
The Kindle arrived today so I'll be having a play with it tonight. Will let you know how I get onI think I'll be ok putting the books in the loft michelle but am not so sure about actually saying goodbuy to them. I too am an avid bath reader.
Ow to 8% DansMum! DH really likes the idea of an offset mortgage but we never have enough savings and I'm sure that if I could see how much I owe all the time I would just go ...'b*gger it! Let's go on a spree!'...
I was looking at mortgages last night and there are some good tracker deals around, but am scared to switch as I've had my One account for 10 years with no problems.... Although the tracker rates are less than mine....:(MFW 2011 No. 161 £946.54/£2000 TargetApril 9/15March 14/15

Well I've got my kindle
and I'm very impressed at the page quality. Have downloaded some free books to read. Have bought it in to work to show collegues, all wrapped snuggly in DH's laptop cover :rotfl:I think £50 for a cover, even a lighted one is far too much and even £20 makes me wince. I'm going to be brave and try and make one
Had some luck at the Boots sale and got 2 garden tool sets for £6.40 reduced from £25! That's Mum and a friend sorted for birthday presents. I also checked my Argos card and found that it has £27.75 on itthis is a reward from the utility companies, I plan to use this for a new cot mattress nearer the time.
Some semi-good news is that the CC comp have said that they'll refund me the £100 but only after the 1st April
If you're happy with your mortgage DansMum and the idea of changing makes you panic then stay with the 1account. The whole idea of being a MFW is to reduce stress...isn't it?Currently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Mr setmefree2 got a kindle from me the christmas before last and I can honestly say that it is the best present I've ever bought him (and we have been together 26 years!!!) He loves it! I hope you do too. Apparently, you can access lots of classic books for free, so who knows in the long run it might save you money!!!!0

The cover I bought for mr setmefree2's kindle actually cracked it:o This was a design fault and Amazon replaced his kindle for free. He has a new case as well which I think is supposed to be a better design.
For more info - google "Kindle cover + cracks"0 -

I don't have a Kindle myself, but I read on another forum about putting it in a zip-lock bag to keep it dry...0 -

I know you can get a lot of free books from amazon, but this site is also good.
http://manybooks.net//
I downloaded little woman, complete works of shakespeare and many others. If it says free then it is going in.
Ziplok bag = genius. I normally take my library book in, but that is a brill idea. It is mainly little splashes that bother me, and you would still be able to see and do the buttons.
This was the hemp cover i liked the look of. Looks nice and has a useful pocket.0
