Hi charley pink
I've edited my post to say 'majority' of lurkers ...... I sometimes type things but they don't come out the way I want to say them (think we're all guilty of that sometimes !) so I apologise if I've upset anyone. :grouphug:
There's nothing wrong with lurking, but something wrong when people don't share and are greedy !
No worries!
Iv'e just got back from boots, and used the no17 lippy voucher. Managed to find no17 eye shadow reduced to £1.60, so picked up 2 and the lippy, so altogether cost me £1.60 for all 3.
I Can't remember who posted the voucher but many thanks:T

...
Also, the voucher did not scan, had to be entered manually. Did have the 'cannot be used' excuse but I asked SA to try and she did and it went through so fill your boots ladies ! lol
...
Did it (new 17 voucher) work without a beep when she entered the numbers manually, or did it beep and they had to override the till?0 -
just a quick q about last night's nappy glitch - excellent spot - but how did you know about the code??
just intrigued!!

Re: the chatter, I do agree that it is tending to take over the thread lately. I'm not talking about the chat that often explains or irons out a glitch, I'm all in favour of that, we all know it's necessary.
Mrs BB, you don't need to "hold your hands up" as being an "offender" for posting pics of your lovely make-up either, as Val has already pointed out it's the quoting of full posts that takes up a lot of space. I love Val's idea of you doing a blog with all your ideasAha, but then you could just pop up a link to the original post to show them, no? I like your pictures, plus you use Boots products so they're considerably more relevant than quite a lot of chat on here, lol. But seeing them ten times over, often in the same page, inevitably gets a bit irritating.
Better still, why not a blog or a website, to keep all your ideas together? Then you can just link over to your designs and people going for a look can see everything you've ever done at the same time which would be fab, quite honestly, because your ideas are wonderful and don't desterve to be lost in archived threads of a month ago. And you can post as many pictures, as large as you like, with detailed descriptions. You'd get a lot of readers doing this, I would think.
It is hard work trawling through pages of chatty posts that do nothing except inform us that someone is going to eat supper or is rolling on the floor laughing, for example. I have plenty of time on my hands but have to admit I'm finding it hard to keep up lately because of the chatter. It must be difficult for a young mum with less time to keep abreast of what's happening with Boots Grabbits.
As we all know CPG tries to give us a new thread every 100 pages or so, this used to mean every 10 days or fortnight but recently we are going through 100 pages every 4 or 5 days. It would be less stressful for her if we could cut down on the chat a bit, I'm sure as a working mum she is busy with other things too.
I hope that nobody is going to be offended by what I say, I guess that some will be but it's not intended to be that way, honest.
For what it's worth, I do think that the recent limits on PM'ing have contributed greatly to the rise in the number of chatty posts recently.
Somewhere back in an earlier thread in Grabbit somebody mentioned a facility to chat about any site, a bit like MSN but without giving away email addys, a sort of instant messaging thing where you typed in the url and it opened a chat box and you could chat with other users. I've forgotten the name of it now, does anyone know what I mean? Perhaps this would be useful to cut down on the chat within the thread.

I'll be the first to hold my hands up and say that I talk complete nonsense on here, alot off topic etc, but I'd also like to think that in my own way I contribute by being helpful where ever I can. Bottom line is, if I do not feel I can chat when I get caught going off topic and forget myself, then I sure will not be coming on to be helpful on the thread, answering pm's and emails in relation to help, nor sending out 400 emails in regard to vouchers again!
I'll check back later to see if the general thought is that the chat should stop, then decide whether I should go back to lurking and not posting.
Can anyone really say that up to 50 new pages a day is not excessive?
It's making the thread almost unworkable unless you've got an hour to wade thru all the posts. And it's the one thing that has cropped up the most in the 4 years since I've read the thread. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I didn't really want to get into this but I just wanted to point out that quoting posts is a simple way of refering to what you are replying to - the quote itself is within a box so you know you don't need to read it again.
Also, you can choose NOT to wade through all the pages. The MAIN glitches are always on the first post and I think some people need to accept they can't have ALL of the glitches ALL of the time!
Just my opinion......*wink*"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being"."Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that"."True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".:rotfl:0 -
Hello all
not wanting to chat unnecessarily but have to say a public thank you to Kitty*in*boots who was kind enough to send me the vouchers from the mag insert for me to buy a present for my friend. She sent them in a lovely little card with a chirpy little note in it which really made my morning! It's lovely to see such kindness from strangers on a thread like this (wish the smillies would work again!!)

To see how a particular glitch works, you definately need to refer to the main thread in addition to Post 1.

Val, thank you for your idea of a blog page...it is a lovely idea.
However, at the moment I do have a bit of time on my hands as I have left work, however in a couple of weeks I start a university course, which is set to be very demanding.
I am not sure how much time I would be able to devote to setting up and maintaining a permanent blog, hence why I have no homepage, and just post pics on an adhoc basis on here.
Creating the looks themselves, is very time consuming..often spending an evening on creating a perfect look, but I enjoy this...this is something for my benefit, and something I will no doubt continue to do.
What is a new thing, is posting pics of the looks on here (taking pictures, uploading them, then posting them, then compiling lists, describing what I did and so on) which takes even more time...so I'm not sure I would be able to keep a blog or web page up to date, and whether that would be the best option, given depending on how often I update, I would still need to tell people its updated, and would still need a place for people to offer suggestions or comments, or questions.
It is easy for people to do that on here...a simple comment added to an exsisting message is often what people do.
And some people may not feel they have the time to go to a seperate page, log in, acess my page, then post....then await a reply as a blog wouldn't be something I would access as fequently as this page - I access this page so regularly as I check the offers, and other boards.
I'm sure I will come to solution if I have the time, and if I do, I will inform everyone of the outcome.
I was going to suggest Pm-ing people the looks, but what with the wait and what not, it might not be the best time saving idea. And of course then if I did do that, I would then perhaps be accused of being 'clique-y'...as not everyone would be seeing it.
I don't know...I give up on it for now *rolls eyes, sighs, and shrugs*Treasurer and Co Founder of - The Smile It Won't Hurt Club

But then people are still gonna need to ask how I did it, what I used, can I repost the link etc...which is still gonna clutter the thread with 'unwanted' chat, and to be honest - I feel that hacked off with it this morning, I can't be bothered with all the 'this thread isn't for that' comments, that will inevitably appear, and that I feel will be directed at me.
....
You could always do it via email or facebook, and a blog as someone suggested is a great idea. I think the pics actually spice up the thread, but they do lead to umpteen comments about "ohh, that's nice" and reposts of the pics, etc. If we could keep your makeup posts with a tag to just hit "thanks" or pm you with questions or comments, that would be nice.
This is friendly thread, and a bit of off topic chat is really nice and can be so helpful when someone has a problem to sort out. But it does get out of hand, and some nights honestly looks like something that should've been taken to an IM chat program between a few users.
I'm really starting to think we do need a separate Bootsers chat thread so we can talk about the price of tea in China with the people we feel like we know here. I know the idea has been discussed and discarded, but I would like a place just to chat with Bootser friends when you don't want to talk Boots, you just want to chat or ask advice on something non-boots related (like where to find a cheap flight or how to get stains out of carpet, lol). The Boots-related chat about how glitches work and what items someone found on clearance could stay here. Probably will never happen, but it would be nice.
Edited to add: Just saw your post. Setting up a blog takes a few minutes, and you'll probably find that posting the pics there takes the same amount of time as posting them here, and people can leave comments, etc. I like https://www.blogspot.com, very easy to use and free.0
