RedBalloon, I said earlier that because the first post can't be updated in real time, you do have to check the thread too for all the info. (Well skim thru the posts at least.)

To see how a particular glitch works, you definately need to refer to the main thread in addition to Post 1.

    <smile>

This is true, but often in order to 'see how a glitch works' it often means people posting about a store experience which often leads to the not needed chat, people are complaining about.

  • one glitch has lead to so many issues !!!!
well first post is not always enough as some people need to know how to perform the transaction in store ....
the person who mentioned the nationality of a SA ... that is not at all nice ... a SA just denied you something .... his or her race or nationality does not come into account at all ....
  • mrsbluebear good luck on your course hope it all goes well xx my baby is leaving to go to uni his car will be full of all the linx i bought him lol

Who was it that when they pressed the THANKS button it flew them to the top of the page every time?
Are you reading & did you fix the problem as it's happening to me now & bugging me something cronic.

    Thanks
'Twas moi, not doing it anymore, not sure how it got sorted as OH had to reset the computer a few times for various reasons and it was all better but not sure if it was due to resetting or it just sorted itself after a while

Re: unnecessary chat, people that have been on MSE a few years have the benefit of remembering when the old Boots chat threads (from a couple of years ago) were closed down by the mods (because of loads of complaints about chatter getting in the way of bargains) and the posting rules were changed so that you could only post a new glitch and nothing else. (Pash will tell folks about this, she was around at the time and it was her chat thread that eventually got unceremoniously dumped.)

The argument "just check Post 1 for the bargains" only works to a degree because Post 1 isn't updated in real time, whereas Boots.com obviously is! So if you want to see the very latest bargains you still have to check the thread.

There are loads of examples of unnecessary chat but I wouldn't want to hurt people by mentioning them. But historically - over the last 4 years - that's the one thing that crops up the most as a criticism of the Boots thread.

The other thing that is widespread here is people swapping (which I've done myself before) or even trading which is completely against MSE rules and leaves the thread open to attack.

I only say all this cos I care about the thread, having seen it closed down in the past. No doubt, some will label me a misery, a trouble maker or the thread police, but that would be far from the truth and I've very broad shoulders anyway. <smile>

    Regards
    Dave

Hi Dave, well I wouldnt have put it like that (re *dumped* as in the chat thread)but it was closed <smiles>
I have to say to the poster, and I'm sorry but I forget who it was but Dave is/was a regular contributer to this thread (way back) and I know he pops on now and again, it has also been said that some people dont have the time to post all the time and Dave is one of these so please do not judge him as a lurker (though he can be a bit shifty) *chortles* that was a joke by the way!

*holds hands up smiley* I am guilty of chat on the thread but sometimes in my opinion (for what its worth) a giggle is what is needed to lighten the mood... I will (try) to reduce my ramblings... but I cant promise!
ps Dave you are not a misery etc, you are a very nice man.. a very very nice man (did you used to work for the AA?) see I am waffling again.. I am off, housework calls!)
    Pash x

no amimals have been hurt in this post ...and I am sorry if any posters, non posters, people who know me or don't know me have been annoyed, upset or worse by this, it is just a reply to a post

  • Tsk, whats all the fuss about?? So what if ppl are cliquey... it happens everywhere in life, whether Virtual or Real. It's not like nobody benefitted from the glitch after the reveal at 10pm. Good glitch for all that need it. I can understand why KJ witheld the glitch, as I have noticed there are a lot of lurkers who are out just to make a profit from Boots Glitches by resale on auction sites or carboots by purchasing bulk amounts which means that either A) boots busts us on the glitch and withdraws items before dispatch OR B) People who need things don't get any at all.

Anyway, back onto Boots stuff.... Went and did a morning visit to Slough (pants) and Windsor. Loads of reduced Botanics stuff in Windsor with shelf full of the make up pads at 63p each. Didn't try any of the extra points vouchers as paid with AC. Also, the S&G shopping bags that were once free, were reduced to 67p but only one left just for me! :D
Oh actually, Slough had lots of bits and bobs like simple moisture lotion with the gradual tanning thing in it for 20p all by the main tills at the front of the store.
