I worked at first assist for years. Put it this way. Customers from Halifax in particular are evil !!!!!!!s!! Honestly how would lot like it if we came into your work and swore at you! At the end of the day, we are just doing our jobs and you people as customers do not understand this! yes we do hate our job but give us some leway be nice! We are not being rude to you so don't be rude to us!! AND if we ask you to confirm details, i really do not understand why u lot dnt do it! Its a bank for gods sake! We cannot do anything with your date of birth!! Some customers say I'm not giving you my postcode!!! Hello!! You aint the only one with the same postcode!

    AND finally.......

When we want to speak to a customer, why on earth do there spouses say they are not interested when they do not have a clue what the call is about and the customer didnt even say they wern't interested! If my girlfriend told someone that i wasn't interested I'd hit the wall!! You all wanna know what the calls about when we call! If the call aint for you and its the bank, its none of your business! Simple!
LOL, I smell a Forum Troll!!!!

Or, to put it another way, a cold caller making a very poor attempt at justifying cold calling.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I don't think JoshThomas1 works for First Assist. He is a first time poster, on an old thread and was online just after midnight. He is more than likely an internet TROLL i.e. which is someone who posts inflammatory messages on a forum to get a reaction.

I have just been on to Halifax Customer Services on 08457253519 about this. They said I had given them permission to contact me in relation to marketing products, which is untrue, but that's another story.

What they did was put me through to First Assist and I was able to speak to a human being who turned out to be a perfect gentleman! My details have now been removed from their database and I have been assured I will not be contacted again!

"My details have now been removed from their database and I have been assured I will not be contacted again!"

Will these words come back to haunt me. I was phoned again 2 hours after making the phone call to Halifax Customer Services!
  • I have had these calls for some time, they stopped after I asked them to stop ringing as it was getting on my nerves, but this last week have started again.

I always talk over them and say I am not interested, and First Assist always reply with "What is it that you not you interested in?" Unbelievable!

Last time I answered, I said I was a member of TPS, and was then told that it does not cover this because I am a Halifax customer!

I did once answer and leave the phone in front of a speaker with Music for 30 minutes - still rang back an hour later.

These have called again tonight and luckily hubby was here to tell him where to go. These people don't even let you get a word in edgeways. Hubby passed to the phone to our 5 year old daughter and he was soon gone.

These are simply "Nuisance Calls". My wife and I are fed up telling these freaks that we have NO IDEA who they are looking for as we have NEVER heard of the person in question but they simply do not believe us. We REFUSE to change our number AGAIN because of their ignorance. The phone will be left hanging next time they call...
  • Someone above says you may receive 18 calls a month, we've just got back from a week away on holiday and our caller display records the following calls from 01202415780:

    6th July 2010 14:34hrs
    7th July 2010 10:46hrs
    7th July 2010 14:37hrs
    7th July 2010 17:25hrs
    8th July 2010 10:05hrs
    8th July 2010 14:05hrs
    8th July 2010 15:19hrs
    9th July 2010 10:11hrs
    9th July 2010 11:34hrs
    9th July 2010 12:36hrs

Surely 10 calls in less than 72 hours is harrassment? Can we do anything about this legally? We too are on TPS but my husband banks with HBOS. We haven't been in yet when they called, but I will be in for the next 2 days, so it will be interesting to see whether they call again.

When I saw we had 12 missed calls I thought something awful had happened and someone had frantically been trying to get in touch with us while we'd been away, as we don't receive that many calls on the landline in a normal week, and definitely not when our family and friends know we're on holiday.

Any advice about these cowboys would be brilliant, since it seems so many people have the same problem with them can we do anything to just stop this happening altogether? I registered on TPS to avoid this happening, not to be harrassed.
