Best thing to do is say I will just get the person they asked for, place the phone at the side of the base unit....and leave it there for at least one hour.
    Call me Carmine....

Some people get as much as 18 calls a month. My advice is to say to them you already have cover with the halifax for this and they will leave you alone.

    ;) I'll try this, thanks!

They phoned twice again yesterday. Quite often they won't listen to what you have to say unless you're the person they are after.

I have caller display so I know it's them, I usually just pick up the phone and put it straight back down again.

They never seem to phone when hubby is in though.

This nuisance company is back making calls again. Had one this morning from 01202415780 First Assist on behalf of Halifax. Hung up as soon as answer machine cut in. Checked the number on the web then called the number back to confirm it was definitely First Assist. We have caller alert screen so can ignore however time such companies were put out of business. HOW?

They have called me twice now. Last night at 9pm (!), which I missed and this afternoon which I answered.
They called me on my mobile, but I refused to tell them who I was wanting to know who they were.
The most I got out of him was that he was from Halifax First Assist and that until he knew who my name, he couldn't continue with the call.
I said he had the wrong number and terminated the call.
The rep was very chatty (as if that would make me purchase something), however, it is the kind of approach that could possible lead a more vulnerable or lonely person to signing up for something that they couldn't afford or really want.
  • received call from them at 8.55pm. very nice chatty call centre guy but wouldn't let me talk. i asked the same questions as some other people have like can i read about the policy before i sign up, can i review this online....answers were no as its got to be done on phone but i will receive a welcome pack once i sign up?!?!??! why not send me the info first. i got him off the phone but he said he would phone back!!!! the number was 01202415780 first assist halifax

I worked at first assist for years. Put it this way. Customers from Halifax in particular are evil !!!!!!!s!! Honestly how would lot like it if we came into your work and swore at you! At the end of the day, we are just doing our jobs and you people as customers do not understand this! yes we do hate our job but give us some leway be nice! We are not being rude to you so don't be rude to us!! AND if we ask you to confirm details, i really do not understand why u lot dnt do it! Its a bank for gods sake! We cannot do anything with your date of birth!! Some customers say I'm not giving you my postcode!!! Hello!! You aint the only one with the same postcode!

    AND finally.......

When we want to speak to a customer, why on earth do there spouses say they are not interested when they do not have a clue what the call is about and the customer didnt even say they wern't interested! If my girlfriend told someone that i wasn't interested I'd hit the wall!! You all wanna know what the calls about when we call! If the call aint for you and its the bank, its none of your business! Simple!

Because, frankly, you could be anyone, and I'm not expecting a call from the bank. If someone calls me from the saying they're bank, I refuse to answer any security questions, ask them for their name and extension number then call them back on a published number (phone book/cheque book/website) for that bank.

In these instances, when I've called the bank back saying "I've had a call from someone ssaying they work for Halifax/First Assist", they usually say that they know nothing about you.

Anyway, why do you need my postcode/DOB before you start your spiel to sell me PA insurance? Surely that comes later when we complete a proposal and agree premium?
