First assist (Halifax)

We keep getting calls from these people. Most of the time they call when hubby is at work, they are for him.

Got another call from them this afternoon and told them not to call again. They just said "it's ok, I'll call back".

Erm, no you won't. I have called the number back and requested that our name get removed.

Is anyone getting troubled by these and is there anyway I can complain? We are registered with TPS, but as hubby is a customer of the Halifax, we probably won't have a case with them?

Any advise would be helpful. We have caller display, so we know when it's them calling.

We're having the same problem and we're also registered with the TPS.

They've been phoning for my mum and she's never in.

    Anyone know what they're after?

If you're a customer of HBOS does that allow them to phone if you're registered with TPS? Because they phone all day for my mum and never phone later on when she's in.......it's really annoying!
  • PA Cover like if you fracture bones etc

  • Your phone rings and when you come to it if it wasn't you who picked it up you get 'blah blah first assist calling on behalf of the halifax / hbos etc. The idea of this is to make you think that it is the Halifax calling. The agents are trained (if you can call it that) to talk talk and talk and only letting you talk when they need you too where you fit in the script and whizz through it. If like most people you have some form of cover such as critical illness, income protection etc they are told to down sell your cover to up sell theirs. For example if you said you have income protection they would try and make out that an accident plan would and is better. How they work that out i do not know. If someone said i can't afford it they and with the current climate they are told to sell on the basis that if you can not afford it you need it more than ever. If you ask to get something in the post so you can read the followign happens. The agent says' as it is a telephone based company it can not send anything out' This is rubbish as there is an option after the call to send out an info pack. If you ask ' can i get it on line?' the agent will reply 'no' when in fact you can and it is cheaper, go to halifax's website, look under insurance and then health on the left hand side.
If you get through the call the agent will ask you leading questions that require you to say 'yes' or agree with what they are saying. They can even sell on you grunting after a question. Some people get as much as 18 calls a month. My advice is to say to them you already have cover with the halifax for this and they will leave you alone. At the stat of the month the manager will refer to you as data, bad if you are a standared current account holder and excellent if you are a holder of the all singing current account. In fact they could not give a monkeys about you and if you don't buy the plan you should hear what is said about you after the call.
If you get a call from them post a reply and tell us the stupid time they called, how many of you get a call at nearly 9pm and an agent can make about 70 calls a night.
    end the tv tax

Just had a phone call from "The AA and FirstAssist" (Sat 24/01/09 11:20).
Exactly the same, except this was to cover personal accident whilst traveling e.g. car, walking, push bike, train...
    Cost was £8 something.
