i'd rather someone break my finger everyday and get paid for it that go and do a 8 hour shift, thats how much I hate it. full time is too many hours for me also,

Your attitude Stinks.. you have no reason not to work full time just because you cannot be bothered?

I think i'll just settle for part time for now, I could just manage that
That’s because you are lazy, you have no excuses or reasons to work more than full time. and your attitude that you could JUST about manage part time makes me laugh

i dont want to live for only the weekend, i want to actually live everyday doing what i enjoy. such as playign football, tennis and socializing.

So don't you think everybody feels like this? Everybody would like to be able to have all the leisure time in the world to do as they wish. But most of us have to work (frequently at low paid jobs that we hate) to support ourselves and our families. While you are sitting on your a rs e claiming your JSA, someone else has had to do a days work to pay for it.

My user name reflects the type of life you would like. I'm early retired and DO have that leisure time. But I'm 40 years older than you and most of my life I have worked in one capacity or another. I have a degree but for some years I was a lollipop lady because it was the right thing for our family situation at the time. I wasn't too proud to do it, and it wasn't the job I loved best in all the world, however I just got off my backside and contributed to the welfare of my family. My husband worked full-time as a Teacher to do the same.. We've EARNED the right to have a seven day weekend.. My husband worked from 15 to 55 with only a few years out to train to be a teacher. He has earned it too.

You young man have a long time to go before you are in that position and therefore you need to get real, stop thinking you are too good for the world of work, get your finger out and get grafting.

  • Buttercup, if we'd have stayed in the UK I probably would not have retired (my husband would have retired from Teaching, but may well have done something else). I had a nice three-day-a-week job that I enjoyed and paid decent money (to the OP - remember how long I have been working - I haven't always had a cushy number like this!).

However we decided to have a few years living in the sun and we can afford to live here on my husband's Teachers' Pension (to the OP -you will note that we are STILL supporting ourselves and not relying on others to do it - he has paid into that pension scheme for over twenty years).

I'm 60 in 2010 and we may well be back in the UK by then. If we are, I'm going to try and get something part-time at Asda or B&Q where they welcome older employees and also have 'Benidorm leave' (three months unpaid leave a year) , so that we can still visit our Spanish house.

To the OP, see, even us oldies want to earn our own money if we can.

  • What gives you the idea that you are entitled to the JSA. We all have to work for you to get this. You are not automatically entitled to it. What are your parents opinions on this, they must be thrilled to know that you plan to sponge off them forever. Some of us have worked very hard sometimes with more that one job.

I feel sorry for your girlfriend, you are only young and you have no drive to build a future for both yourself and her. Mention your previous jobs on your CV or don’t mention them. You may be lucky to get a position, but I fear without an attitude adjustment and some motivation it may end in the same way as the others.

There are so many opportunities open to you, apprenticeship, further education.. This should be an exiting time for you. Your parents may even help support you in further education and you may not have to juggle part time jobs like many people have to. We have all done jobs that we would rather not think about and some of us are in jobs that we don’t jump up and down about, but that is life.

The big problem is that, like many young people, you're not willing to start at the bottom and work your way up. NO ONE gets to walk into a top paying job with no qualifications, skills or experience. And even when you have got qualifications, it's not easy.

You say you don't see the point of having a job unless you get rich from it, but on the other hand you're getting depressed sitting at home doing nothing...

good post..and i have to agree on that..a lot of us don't want to start at the bottom..remember "no guts no glory".. you can't go up to the peak of the mountain not unless if don't start at the ground..

And how do you do that on £48 per week, having paid for food, bills etc?
