    Hi,
Have used coupons occasionally when buying a product, but didn't realise that some stores accepted then when you're not buying the specified product!
One query though..... the MOC in the Tesco mag say coupon can be used in part payment against a ....... when purchased ect
Do these particular coupons ony work if the product is purchased????
Also, the MOC has the Tesco logo.... so presumably can only be used in Tesco?????
Hopefully one of you 'experts' can advise, or point me in the right direction for further info!
    Thanks
    ;)

A quick reply. Yes Tesco specific coupons can only be used in Tesco - against products bought. Really you need to look for non store specific.

    Good Luck

  • Hello my fellow moneysavers! Just had to post my first ever message after reading the coupon-related boards these past few days. I printed off a few internet coupons today, then this evening summoned up the courage to try them out in my local Tesco store (Redruth, Cornwall) on the way home from work...

I'm shocked!!! My few bits came to £11.35, and ALL the vouchers I handed over scanned through without any comments or raised eyebrows whatsoever. I got £5.10 in vouchers subtracted from my total bill, and I hadn't bought any of the products linked to the vouchers. My hands were actually shaking when I handed over the money!

To be honest, I didn't actually realise that I'd handed over that much in vouchers, but it just shows that 35p here, 40p there soon adds up.

I'm so chuffed but will not be pushing my luck too much in future, just a couple of vouchers here and there... Many, many thanks to all those who have kindly posted links to vouchers here.

Consider your initiation complete and join us voucher users with relish! You have done well - keep it up! The store gets the money back if your vouchers are in date and valid for use so you are doing nothing wrong! I use vouchers all the time!

  • Thanks Katskorner! By the way, when I went it wasn't very busy and I purposefully chose an easy-going-looking young lad who smiled a lot. When it came to coupon-handing-over-time I simply said "I've got some coupons, would you mind seeing if any of them will scan please?"

Perhaps I just got lucky this time, but I won't be going into Tescos without first making sure I've got a few coupons to try out!

Thanks again everyone for making this such a helpful forum.

I too used coupons for the 1st time last week (thanks in part to seeing other people using them and then coming on here to see if I could find out where to get them). Went to my local Tesco's also in Cornwall (Tesco Extra at Pool) was quite nervous but followed the advice on here and picked a young SA, handed £12 worth of MOC's to her, the 1st didn't scan so panicked a bit, but she just picked up the hand helded scanner and it went through without any problem, same with any others that didn't go through the normal scanner. So was well chuffed, as had saved about £12 in BOGOFS etc and then a further £12 in MOC's. My hubbie does most of the shopping though, and I can't get him to use them, so looks like I'm going to have to go shopping more often now lol!

So thanks to everyone that posts details of the coupons.
  • kathy1101, I went to the Pool Tesco today as it was my day off and my Mum-in-Law needed some dog biscuits & black bin bags... I had a few coupons left in my bag and again they went through fine at this store too. In fact, I ended up paying 40p for almost £4 worth of stuff. What I don't understand is how we seem to also get the full value of clubcard points too, not just for the amount paid. Still, I'm not complaining! BTW the SA did state he was allowed to accept as many as 6 coupons at a time. Happy couponning!!!

I think you get the full value of clubcard points because if I understand it correctly coupons are treated as cash, therefore if you hand over £15 of coupons its the same as £15 in cash so you are entitled to the clubcard points. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong though.

Hmmm Tescos Pool took 23 coupons from me last week without any problems! I didn't actually mean to use that many (especially for my 1st time) but she told me just to hand them all over to her, I did only give her 1 of each type though - no duplicates. I thought she's never gonna scan all those but she did bless her.

23 coupons, WOW! Lucky lady :D A really great way of saving LOADS is to check out the special offers at Tesco on mysupermarket.com, add the offers to the basket and just print out your list - then use the list to remind you which offers are worth picking up... Maybe someone on the forums may have already suggested that, so sorry if it's old news :o
  • My third attempt was a no-go

This was at the original Tesco store I had first tried on the Tuesday 16th Sept (at Redruth, Cornwall).

The SA would not scan ANY, and when I politely asked why not she said it has been store policy not to accept 'internet' coupons for the last 6 weeks.

Just when you think you are on to something good...

    Never mind!

Thanks anyhow folks, I still managed to save some pennies.

Even in good coupon-happy stores you can get the odd SA who fibs about the policy. Today I was in my fave Tesco where they take any MOCs including internet prints, as long as one of each coupon.

The young SA wasn't sure so she asked the old trout seated behind her who glared at me and demanded 'did you buy this?'. I'm pretty confident in that store as I visit almost daily without any problems, so I happily replied 'no'...then the trout picked up the pile of MOCs the girl had already scanned and tried to insist there was a store MOC maximum of a fiver. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Then she tried to insist I could only use 2 Bertolli MOCs against 2 Bertolli products - I pointed out I could use 3 this time (as you can always use one 'free' MOC over and above the amount you purchase).

She harrumphed and went back to her own customer so I politely asked the young girl to check with someone who does know the policy. Nice Supervisor breezed over and agreed with me, no probs!

I decided I will look out for trout-lady next time and choose her till deliberately! :D
