Ive just had internet-printed coupons refused for the first time, checkout supervisor saying that photocopies arent accepted now (these were a mix of Mitchum ones and couponnet ones). Does anyone know if this is just my local store now taking this line, or whether there is a new edict from Tesco HQ?0

I havent heard anything, but my local went through this stage about 3 or 4 months ago. Suddenly stopped taking anything with a plain white backing and any magazine ones.
Gradually they have reverted back to accepting all legit printed and NSS manufacturers coupons0 -
:T I always go to asda when were low on money, and get the books from the counter, walk around and rip out the coupons fromthe back of the asda book, sometimes there can be lots. i always use the self service tills, and i have had the cashiers help me put them in aswell! once i got sandwhich stuff for the whole week for me and boyfriend , bread butter sandwihc fillling, crisps, choc buscuits fruit etc.. and even a pizza for that night £7.50 worth of stuff, used the coupons and got 27p change!!!!

Asda refused to take my coupons, which were printed from my printer - not photocopies, saying they do not take any coupons from the internet.0

Tesco would not accept my mitchum ones today when i was actually buying it i used it fine in Asda the other day. The lady was nice enough about it scanned all my other ones but said she would have to call the supervisor as they had been a lot of people downloading multiple ones and didn't know there policy because they have changed it a lot lately, supervisor said they don't accept any printed ones accept with a special saver sign or something like that on it. Still managed to get £14 off my bill using other coupons and money of total spend vouchers.0

It very much depends on who you get on the checkouts as to what they will happily accept. You have to choose your SA very carefully, I look for ones that have served me before or I choose the younger ones. It is the older women that you will normally have a problem with, the younger ones seem happy to accept and scan anything in my local Tesco. Occasionally one of them will ask if I have bought everything I have given the MOCs for, when I politely explain that I don't have to they don't question it and scan the lot.
My local Asda will accept internet coupons but only if you have bought the item. I nearly always go over the limit that the tills are set to for MOCs but the supervisors never check when the come to authorise.:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

Until very recently, I used to regularly use £70.00 worth of coupons a week legitimately, but since it became common knowledge about using coupons, others started abusing them to the extent my local store had to tape up the self scanners and instructed the cashiers not to take any. Now I think it will become even harder to use them as even more people will use them now. I have never been able to use printed ones though at any stores I have used.0

In our Tesco when using the self service till all coupons now have to be approved by the SA due to abuse so be warned!0

I use around £5 of vouchers off my average £30 weekly shop, this has recently risen to £10 while the NOTW vouchers are out. I rarely have any trouble, a superviser has been called twice in the year or so I've been doing it. One time they said yes, one time they said no. When they said no to a voucher I accepted it in good grace - 'it' happens.
My Tescos is a fairly small one and it would be easy to make a name for yourself if you crossed the line. Luckily most of the weekday cashiers at my local store just find it funny, which I think is down to etiquette. They know I pick quiet times to do my shop and that I never use out of date or other stores' coupons there, and they know I don't take the mickey too much. Apparently I am referred to as 'Mrs Coupon' and we always have a natter at the till about what vouchers are about at the moment, a few times it has been the cashier that has tipped me off that there's a voucher in so-and-so at the moment! I have also had times where the cashier has said, go on, I'll stick some more through for you, and I've ended up using about £20 of vouchers rather than the fiver I usually stick to in one visit. Plenty of them are well aware of MSE and use it themselves, and think it's great that you can save so much money this way.
As long as you use coupons that Tesco can claim the money back on (ie ones that are in date, valid at their store and for a product they sell) they actually make a few pence per coupon in handling. I think it all comes down to being reasonable - if you are, the supermarket staff are far more likely to be.0 -
Hi,
Have used coupons occasionally when buying a product, but didn't realise that some stores accepted then when you're not buying the specified product!
One query though..... the MOC in the Tesco mag say coupon can be used in part payment against a ....... when purchased ect
Do these particular coupons ony work if the product is purchased????
Also, the MOC has the Tesco logo.... so presumably can only be used in Tesco?????
Hopefully one of you 'experts' can advise, or point me in the right direction for further info!
