House without a garden - link

Having myself moved from a house with a garden to one pretty much without (a shared strip of grass with no access directly from the house) I wouldn't recommend it. You think you don't need it but you miss it when it's gone believe me!
On the other hand I absolutely loved the house you viewed, I live next to a chapel myself and think it would be a lovely property to own.Sadly, you don't have any badges yet but keep trying! See what you could get........... oh boo hoo I am crying into my wine.0 -
Our house in Spain has no garden, but it does have a roof terrace as we did want some outside space where we could sit and read. There are only the two of us (early retired, family grown)
Just outside our door are the mountains and countryside, so there are plenty of walks and scenery, but outside space of our own that we could chill out in was important to us.
However, there are plenty of people who wouldn't mind having no outside space, so if it's not a problem to you I wouldn't let it put you off.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I once saw a beautiful detached house like that one, but the lack of garden put me off. I would not buy a house without one.0

ummm - its a toughie.
As for washing, I think there's a line that runs down the side of the house. You could sit out front if desperate but its onto the road - not private.
I agree with the comment abou feeling prison like - it was really strange inside with the huge windows with forsted glass.
On the other hand, we'd love an unusual property such as this - and there's not way we could afford all that space normally. i guess its whether its worth the trade off, and for us, indoor space is far more valuable with a growing family.

If it's any help, my uncle and aunt just had their property valued. It's a lovely converted barn, but it got a much lower valuation than they'd expected (even with dropping house prices) because it's got no garden. Now that suits him as a farmer / nurseryman down to the ground, but the estate agent said they'd have difficulty selling...0

Oh yes - think about the noise level from your children. You'd be amazed by how noisy these old buildings with hard floors and high ceilings can be - voices just echo around them...0

The estate agent said it would be worth £450K with a garden - I think thats a tad optimistic but it would definately be out of our price range.MANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j

Thats a !!!!!!! expensive garden, how many acres?
I would want a garden, but most chapel conversions dont have one, there is a beautiful one near me for sale, and its been on the market for years.
There will allways be people who will buy a house without one but it does limit your buying market, it needs to be priced right.Pawpurrs x0 -

Use a tumble dryer? I never hang washing out, and I have got a (small) garden.0
