    Hello everybody,

I haven't posted for a few days as I've been flat strapped. Been looking after grandson. He's nearly 8 months old & is soooo hard to look after. DIL has totally not given him any routine at all & needs to be nursed to sleep, then constantly wakes up squealing which then she puts him in their bed. So hard to babysit for everyone else. Granny & Poppy are stuffed. :p Her & friend have gone to a Kelly Clarkson tonight so won't be back until tomorrow. Have just got him to sleep now. Fingers crossed everyone.:D My mum had a fall today. She has skinned her leg & scratched her face. She has dementia and in a nursing home. I usually go and see her every Wed but didn't today as it was too hard with DGS.

I will drive down tomorrow. It's about 3/4 hr away. The last five weeks she has really detiorated and TBH I don't know if she will see out this year. It will be a blessing in a way. I know that sounds awful, I struggle with those thoughts all the time. Anyway, I hope your day will be a happy one. We've had storms here so the weather has been cooler for the last couple of days. Anyway off to have dessert, icecream & fruit salad.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Morning girls (and MATH and Squeaky if you're here!)

You won't hear much from me today because of my stupid rotten job

We have a deadline tomorrow and I had today all planned out, spending some of this morning preparing for a meeting this afternoon, and now our client has put a different meeting back from this morning to this afternoon, so we have to have the first meeting this morning which totally messes up my schedule and means I'm not prepared for it

On the plus side, my boss has suggested we have a meeting on Friday to plot the most painless method for me to escape from my job once and for all. At least she's sympathetic to how unhappy I am! The downside is she wants TWO MONTHS' notice  , and I have a bonus due at end of Feb (albeit probably only a little one) so my current plan of action is to hand in my notice after the Christmas break with a view to leaving at the end of Feb. That leaves me the 2 month period to find a new job, or at least some temp work... It could be quite handy for me, as the post-Christmas period is always when I have the most free time in the evenings, so lots of time for application forms etc!

No HM lunch for me today, but it works out at 22.5p anyway (NCG tomato & creme fraiche soup reduced to 20p, and one of a 4-pack of granary rolls reduced to 10p!) Dinner is probably salmon steaks roasted in butter, with mash and peas (I say "probably" as I'll be defrosting whatever it is in the MW when I get home!) and will do extra peas to go in the box with the last remaining portion of frozen HM fish pie.

ivyleaf - ah, how easy it is to get to Lakeside from the Dartford area when you have a car! I don't drive and needed to go to Gray's last Saturday - I had to go via North Greenwich and West Ham! We passed the north side of the Dartford Crossing on the train, and by that time I'd already been travelling for over an hour! There are very few times I wish I had a car (buying/getting rid of the Christmas tree, etc) but this was certainly one of them!

ancasta - oh no, you're one of those scary organised people aren't you!?

  • Rzl, im not organized really, im just trying to get as much sorted and planned as possibly to show my parents we are capable of doing it ourselves and dont have to rely on them for cash hand outs (altho it would be nice)

and my dress maker will need lots of notice, she makes professional corsets (they are stunning) and she makes costumes for stage plays so i gotta get my dabs on her time :D

    K
  • Oooh, corsets... if me and OH ever make it down the aisle I might be giving your friend a call! (What's the point of a Junoesque hourglass figure if you can't show it off eh? I need to lose at least a stone but am a bit worried about losing the curves too! :D )

    Morning

Been up since about 3 or 4am but just sitting down for a cuppa. Caught up reading here but didnt post, then while i had the motivation i started cleaning/tidying the house. Hasnt been done for must be nearly 2 weeks!

Long story why (AND why i havent been around) .. but summary - me having a horrendous week last week due to bad circumstances and my depression... ring ex-boyfriend (split days earlier over stupid row) in floods of tears , he tries to help by talking things through with me.. results in him realising hes up for "idiot of the year" award cos he does love me blah blah.. we get back together..(3rd time lucky?! ) hed moved into his own place on the sunday.. somehow i end up staying there since last wed only popping home for clothes and to check on house - which id let get into a right state before i went to stay at his.

Anyway finally come home on monday afternoon and tried to start it but have caught a stinking cold so been dying and not felt up to it. Come in to a answerphone message saying work wanted me to call in for a meeting so did that yesterday - they told me if i dont go back to work by xmas eve i havent got a job to go back to    There are no vacancies for me to go back in another role either so if i do go back will be going back to job that caused my depression to start with and which turns my life upside down again!

So anyway rant/rambling over todays plans are sorting out the house PROPERLY....just filed paperwork ive been meaning to do since ooooo.... august? :rotfl: Might finally get everything in order than have to move in 6 weeks  Ah well...Think i'll try HM tuna fishcakes with HM chips and mushy peas for tea :j

Anyway im off to sort more stuff out now

P.S. Gotta make sure im all done in time for the take that documentary on tonight!! :D :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • Hi All,
Got a day off today as have been to an English workshop at school with DD1. Ive spent the morning so far, colouring, cutting out, laminating and playing on the school computers. :j Just had a very early dinner. (cheese and onion sandwich made by OH last night) I found last night was one of those rare occasions when I could actually sit on settee and watch the TV. (I have one of these evenings about once in a blue moon) and guess what - nothing on that I wanted to watch! Of course I could have finished off my Christmas cards and done some wrapping, but I really fancied choc chip cookies so I made a double batch, enormous tin of them. Of course OH and I had to try a few to make sure they were OK  , and just had some with my sandwich. DD's were very pleased this morning and wanted them in their lunch boxes. After all this I went to bed early with Martin, :p (only his book which arrived yesterday!)

This afternoon Im going to post ebay parcels, collect ebay parcels, go to building society, and buy a couple of Xmas pressies and cards. Just need to do a couple of houseworky type jobs before I go.

Tea tonight is chicken pasta bake. My DD's (and OH) are the fussiest eaters I have ever met, and I have spent ten years trying to coax my DD1 to try something different to chicken nuggets and smiley faces/ or toast and dairylea for tea. I have now decided I am cooking her "proper" meals now every night. If she doesnt eat them she goes without. So far both DD's have turned their noses up at chicken/stuffing/yorkies roast tea on Sunday, chicken and leek pie with pots and veg on Monday, and Shepherds pie last night. Im sure tonights tea will meet a similar fate but Im past caring (can they ring childline because they are being fed too well? )
May have to hide the chop chip cookie tin though.

Feel lousy this morning...... had a very bad night, not sure if its the tablets for my UTI or if I am coming down with something...........felt most peculier about midnight lasted until after 4am.....I had taken an antibiotic just after 10pm, so guess it was about time the coating had disolved and it was hitting my stomach....stopped taking them, will leave it a couple of days and then start again, see what happens.

Should have been going out this morning, put it off till Friday, hoping to feel a bit better, have a mystery assignment tomorrow in a nearby town.......OH going with me.
A pan of bol sauce on and have also diced up two pork steaks I bought cheap at Tesco defrosted them last night, enough on them to make pork casserole for 2 dinners, good value for £1.70, put some mushrooms in and add cream when its ready to serve, rice as a side dish yummy.

Also, all the muslin nets from the front windows in the washer, I give them a quick rinse and spin in cold water first to loosen the dirt and then wash with persil silk and wool, lovely smell, on a fast wash, shake fold and hang on the line to drip and then rehang them before they are quite dry, no ironing!!!!! and all done in the day.....I am not a fan of nets but needs must when houses are close together, plus I do not have to draw the curtains if I want to get changed nor have the light on the read in the morning, just part the curtains a little.

Plan to spend this afternoon working on a Christmas runner I am taking as a present to the people we are house sitting for over Christmas.

Living in the sunny? Midlands, where the pork pies come from:

saving for a trip to Florida and NYC Spring 2008

    Total so far £14.00!!

A lovely bright, sunny and COLD day here in the emids. Got up nice and early today and got 2 loads of washing, 2 loads of TD, 2 loads of DW and all the ironing done on eco7:j

Being as I've been so good I don't feel too quilty about serving shop bought lasagne tonight for dinner;) Wednsday night is one of those mad ones with all three MATHLETTES at different afterschool activities at different venues all at the same time. (Good job I'm superhuman and can be in three places at once) all followed by a visit from Granddad.
I will be making my own tattie wedges and serve lots of OS vegetables.
I've noticed that since we have been eating more OS food that when I do buy shop bought pies etc even though it's the size I used to buy I can serve half and save the rest for another meal. Most of the plate is veggies. I think I may have the only kidz in the country who say "hey cabbage, yippee" Max Wilde's the lot of them:D

House is nice and toastie now we have a new boiler but I have to go out later and collect a load of jumble for the church Christmas Fayre on Saturday. It is very important that Fayre is spelled in this ye oldie worlde way in these here parts or it is not considered a bonifide fundraiser:rolleyes: We need to raise half a million to install disabled access/toilets, new roof, new floor and heating. (hmmm I hope my car boot is big enough:rolleyes: how much space does half a miliion pounds worth of jumble take up:D )

There is one major problem with me being on jumble collecting detail and that is that I can't resist having a good scrummage (well you have to don't ya?) I end up buying most of it myself and then giving it back to the christmas Fayre next year for free;) I've boxed most of what I bought last year to go back on the bricabrac stall but I know I shall not be able to resist again this year.

Had to eat humble pie today and go into the school office and request a payment card. This is the system the school uses for parents who cannot afford to dash off a cheque to cover school expenses in one go.
    I currently owe:-
    Swimming £9 x3
    Pantomime Trip £12 x3
Children in Need No Uniform Day £1 x3
    School Photos £12 x3

I had to explain why I needed a payment card (we don't give them out willy-nilly you know Mr MATH:mad: ) I left feeling like Wayne Slob! I wonder if they would accept part payment in jumble:rolleyes:

Well off to start my collections. I may post some of my OS finds and treasure later just to nark ya:D

Cold that wind today certainly is, says he Yoda talk more like.

It's what I know as a "lazy wind" because it goes straight through you rather than around!
