I had similar problem from Asda - bought Clarks at Outlet - he grew out of them but they lasted two terms!0

Last week I paid £34 for a pair of Clarks school shoes for my son. Three days after wearing them to school, one side had all come away from the sole! I wasn't happy and took them back to Clarks on friday evening.
I was offered an exchange - which I accepted, but chose a different pair of school shoes for DS. I didn't want another pair of the originals, thankyou.0 -
Your child's shoes should last more than 1 day - I would go back to tesco - maybe a different assistant, anyway, say you have been advised to take them to small claims court so you need their details from the manager - that should get some movement. Sure the manager would give you the £xx to avoid this hastle. I am 100% sure small claims would award you shoes + costs. They are simply not fit for purpose.
Got some flashing shoes for 3yo from Clarks - the flashing stopped after a day. Took them back to Clarks and was offered swap, refund or £6 off the shoes. Took the swap.0 -
i had something silimar happen to me. hubby bought me a pair of boots for my birthday from matalan. he bought them on the 16th i wore them that day for a couple hours and on 1 other occasions for about and hour and the heal just fell apart on one and broke off on the other. anyway i took them back 6 days later. and i was spoken to very rudely. the lady made me feel so small. she said in a very loud voice. WELL YOU MUST OF WORN THEM MORE THAN TWICE AND HAD THEM FOR LONGER THAN 6 DAY'S. i showed her the recipt. queue of people behind me. she then said loudly I'M CALLING THE HEAD OF QUALITY CONTROL OVER TO SEE WHAT SHE THINK'S. AND I THINK SHE WILL AGREE YOU HAVE BEEN WEARING THEM MORE THAN YOU SAY. by this point i'm feeling so belittled. anyway the lady came over and was so lovely. she said ' i'm so sorry for this. are you ok, you didn't fall did you when the heal came off. if it ok with you i'll refund u and i'll send them off to be inspected to see if it a dodgy pair of somethign wrong with the batch. she was so nice to me.my faith was then restored in nice helpful people.0

the manager I spoke to made me feel low too and even when I rang thehead of customer service who then rang her, she said the same thing. I feel that she is stubborn and will not go ahead with it or say something to make me feel low again even if she goes ahead with the exchange after I ask for the details regarding the small court claims situation.
Thanx0 -
Call up head office they have no right to speak to you in such a condecending manner. Ask to speak to head of CS don't give up0

I agree with the above posts - call head office. the problem with retailers like tesco is that they think they often think that they will get away with providing cheap products and consumers will accept sub-standard quality in return. it is totally unethical and simply creates huge amounts of waste. if i were you, i would point out to tesco's that you are part of a large consumer web group who have already expressed their support for you and are interested in tesco's response. it would be great if they would do something about this long-term, but very unlikely. more likely they will give you some coupons. please let us all know what their response is though!!!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. ive just rang them and they told me to send in the shoes (freepost) and then they will make a decision. Now my daughter is wearing her old pair which shes growing out of and it means i have to get her another pair for her to wear in the meantime as this can take up to 2 weeks and if they do not go ahead with it, it means ive wasted my money.0

I question the whole ethos of shops selling these types of "school shoes" (I use this term looseley as it is questionable if they are fit for use in such a knockabout environment even by the most careful of children).
I, naiively, bought a pair last year from Woolies for my 5yo girl for £12. By the end of the first day they were badly scuffed and had those white score marks you get when you scratch plastic. By the end of day four the pu coating on the toes had come away completely exposing a material that compared quite favourably to cardboard. I felt embarrassed as it was like my girl was wearing labels saying either "we're poor" or "my mum's a cheapskate"!! Surely the people who design and make these shoes must be fully aware that they are not fit for purpose and will last a couple of weeks at best? That, to me, is a deliberate con.
I should have taken the shoes back and asked for a refund but I blamed myself for trying to take the cheaper option and dashed out to get her a pair of Hush Puppies for £35 which lasted the whole year. I'm sure that there may be the odd cheap pair that has lasted against the odds but I think it is unusual as I continuously hear stories like this and most parents have found out the hard way that it's a false economy.
When I saw ASDA and Tesco advertising school shoes this year I thought no chance! Even though I find buying the more reputable brands a bit of a stretch, it's better than buying 10 pairs of cheaper ones and them ending up in a landfil.0 -
You don't have to buy Clarks to get decent school shoes but look for decent quality leather school shoes. Bit late now but sometimes the Clarks summer sale in August has some school suitable shoes from previous winter season so you can get a bargain for September start.
Cheap shoes (or even expensive fashion shoes) are crap for school. DD 13 now and wants fashion over quality. Faith shoes (£30) worn out within 2 months. Tammy girl £12 lasted 2 months. I now look for Faith sale as I don't mind them only last 2 months if they only cost me £10 a pair.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)
