We viewed the house yesterday and tbh still not sure if it fits the bill or not. Viewing got off to a bad start as when we arrived there was another family also waiting to view at the same time as us, which for some reason really annoyed me (and them too judging by their faces!). Anyway the garden is all open at the back which isn't in any way ideal with a dog so we're giving some thought as to whether there is anyway of dealing with that as don't really want him rampaging through the neighbours gardens! Also everything in the house was very dated and I'd be a bit worried about things (such as central heating) breaking down. Maybe I'm being a bit over fussy and need to realise that beggars can't be choosers. We did see another house as we were driving back from there which we're going to try and arrange to see in case the first doesn't work out.
The calls are increasing now at least 3 last night, luckily we have caller display so I'm just not answering any numbers that I don't recognise!

If it is not suitable then forget about it and move on to another. You don't want to be spending money on things like the garden. There will be a house out there for you somewhere.

  • Hi Silou,
Can't give you any useful advice, but just wanted to say you sound impressively strong and together despite the hole you are in at present. I can imagine what it is costing you (emotionally) to struggle to sort this out for your kids, while the spineless swine probably carries on digging. All I can say is this forum made me feel less alone, and that someone cared.
Good luck and all the best in your struggle,

Thank you all for the words of wisdom, still not made up our minds re the house. Partner and I will be having a chat about it when he gets up and try to make our minds up one way or the other. While it has some negatives it has many positives (such as being round the corner from daughters best friend so no more taxi service for me!) and the school bus stop is about 200 metres away and I would get free bus passes for the kids there which I have to pay for at the mo (so more surplus for me!)
Meldrews wife - bless you but I dont feel very strong or together really but this site has been an excellent source of advice and support, always there when I'm having a wobble!
Merry - I have read much of your threads and really hope things are picking up for you too.
    Thanks again.

Just a quick update, we decided to apply for the house that we saw and so far that appears to be going through OK so we are keeping our fingers crossed.
Have just been reading on another thread about not being able to go BR till you've been at an address for 6 months, I don't think I'd realised this before and am a bit concerned about it. The plan was to move into rented then go BR. As a big part of my reason for going BR is the shortfall that there will be once the house is repo'd and sold will this still work? I guess I could use the address of the house that the mortgage is on when filling in BR forms but would this be OK and how would I then fill in the SOA as it would show rent rather than mortgage payments. It might also make it tricky trying to explain why I had no choice but to go BR.
Just when I think I've got it clear in my mind something else crops up!
Any advice would as always be much appreciated.
    Thanks

I think you have to have lived in the area for 6 months that your court resides in (not necessarily the same house).. someone else will have to confirm that though?
