  • well i only found this topic yesterday so after reading tru it im a bit:eek:in how organised you all are and how behind i am.fortunatly i have been doing bits n bobs around the house so after writing my lists i realise i havent got that much to do fortunatly.
majority of prezzies are bought justneed to wrap.
i need to hunt out the decs n get OH to check the lights etc and throw/get rid of the tat. cleaning/tidyg wise i need to do living room and dining room and one of the bedrooms needs a major declutter as im sure someone will end up sleeping on the airbed in there so i still have plenty to do. this morning tho i have (with the help of eldest son (2)) clened the porch and the windows in there so that looks nice :T.
kitchen on the other hand is a bombsite and always is so i need to sort that out desparatly but i think im best doing a the other stuff first so i can keep on top of it and then just blitz the kitchen in a week or so, hopefully that will work, we arent the best at keeping things tidy.

this is the first year that we are hosting christmas at our house as we now have the room of r everyone (both sets of parent and sibblings pluss my granny and our 2 sons) so i want it to be just right as i am a perfectionist but i have said that if its not done the day before christmas eve thats it im not doing it as this is the first year of my son "getting" christmas so i dont want to be stressed mummy shouting at everyone to help me sort stuff and then not beeing happy when they have helped but not done itin the way i would of (control freek me?:rotfl:)

im sooo excited about christmas this year, its the first in a long time.
right i shall go see whats next on my list, prob somthing dead exciting like hoovering the sofa woohoo:rolleyes:

    :xmastree: <
what i hope my tree will look like but prob will lokk like a christmas dec bomb went off next to it ones the boy child and his dad has finished (vv excited about a tree as its our first real one:j)
right i realy am off now :o
  • Hi catgirl
Welcome to the thread, there is lots of good info on here as well as lots of people mega organised which certainly make me feel like i have been sitting on my bum for ages lol.

This weekend i have sorted out the freezer ready for the tesco shop, i have made pear chutney for the hampers which looks horrible[but hopefully they will like it], i have also booked the tesco delivery slot.
This week i dont think i will get a chance to do much as i am working 6 days and have to take my mum out on sunday, so a non christmas week.

Good luck everyone with the week.

Talk about 'organised' - something I'm totally not !!

Delved upstairs into my little 'santa's grotto' this morning and found two winnie the pooh books I'd bought for baby grandson and forgot about !!
Looked at baskets I'd done (only 2 thank goodness) and they look awful (maybe I've looked at too many really nice ones on here) I really will have to re-do them............might try with that shiny wrapping paper, see if thats any better.
    So jobs for this week

Buy shiny wrapping paper (cross fingers and hope it works !)
Wrap up baby grandsons 2 books
Buy sturdy brown wrapping paper -enough for three shoe boxes
Buy jiffy bag big enough for Football calendar.
Buy white elastic bands so I can finish off grandsons shoe fresheners
Check woolworths ladybird collection for christmas pj's (too dear shan't buy any)
Buy gold star to go with baby grandsons Christmas Star story I wrote
Buy yet more ribbon to tie round shoe boxes (never seem to have enough!)Buy more choccy for 3 pots of gold -mustn't forget gold ribbon

After I've got all that -and once I've got scratch cards/lottery tickets for pots of gold:

Re-arrange shoe boxes to make sure everything fits in !!
Wrap shoe boxes and calendar that need posting
Finish wrapping everything that needs to go to my sons on 11th Dec
Finish baby grandsons christmas card and make envelope for it

Sit back, light ciggie (yes I know, dreadful habit) have cappacino and relax..................:p (hopefully and try not to think of something I've forgotten!)
    Mary

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

I feel the need to make a list so that I can try and get my head round what's left to do.....

Once this horrible, achey flu goes away I might feel a bit more inclined to get cracking.

DD1's birthday on Saturday so we don't talk/do anything christmassy in the house until that's over and done with.

    So...

Need to get the decs/tree down - sort through the lights as I seem to remember throwing loads of broken ones last year with the promise of "we'll get new".....hmmm...

Find advent calendars - they're fabric pocketed ones for DD's - I've got the sweeties ready to fill them with.

Find suitable basket for In-laws hamper - run out of cellophane so will be creative with tissue paper.

Make the final saltdough bits and bobs I need to do - wreath for parents, plaque for inlaws, gingerbread men for the tree....bake and paint and varnish.

Wrap everything - DH is off on the 11th Dec so we've penciled that in as the main wrapping day...as it all needs hauling out of the loft - wrapping - hauling back in the loft out of the way.

Put decs up - will do this over a few days - bits and bobs start creeping in from 1st december - tree will go up on the 6/7th ish

Write cards/make 3/4 home made ones for those who'll appreciate them....lost my address book so need to do a ring round and get everyones addresses (and store them on my laptop like I was nagged to do last year) - post cards.

Get some sort of meal plan together and start shopping for it - aiming not to spend more than my weekly food budget amount so need to get creative.

Attend DD2's final primary carol service (how'd that happen...no more primary christmases??? I feel old)

Try and persuade the rest of the family (who don't have young kids) that holding a huge get-to-gether the Saturday before Christmas 200 miles from home isn't the best time for us.

Find something suitable to wear for boxing day at inlaws and the next day at my parents (I can't be the only person that doesn't have 2 decent partyish outfits surely?)

Finish 2 last sock monkeys, make a gingerbread man garland for the fireplace and maybe make a fabric gingerbread house (if I can smuggle the felt in without DH noticing I've spent more money)

    Think that's it for now......:j

  • Only 1 month till Christmas Eve everyone! It's like the calm before the storm right now....I wonder how we'll all be feeling this time next month, I know I'll probably be making a cake, and getting ready for my polish family meal! CHAOS will rein no matter how ordered I am....my mother enjoys the chaos I think :P

So this week I need to buy:
    Glitter glue
    garland
    stock up on nibbles
    wrapping paper/ribbons
    baileys for hamper

    Write some christmas cards
Choose xmas prezzies for people and not change my mind!
    Go through the freezer
Make my name places for the table

That'll do for now, its my n my OH 1 year anniversary this weekend so anything xmas may have to be put on hold...unless I can convince him to go to hyde park where they have the winter wonderland on! :D
    :xmastree:Christmasaholic and proud! :xmassmile

Today I decided to scrap Snowmen soup
And instead bought some gorgeous boxes from Card Warehouse
£1.49 on 3 4 2 but self assemble but the box is gorgeous with a big silver snowflake on the top and a real quality card :) 8x8 in size
So instead im filling a box with choc bars for my friend and her hub - looks a bit more fancy than a selection box anyway :)

Ive not got much left to do now :s

Well we have put an offer in on the house that we went to view this morning. It is perfect (needs loads doing but reflected in the price). Just waiting to hear if it has been accepted. I'm having a heart attack waiting! Its all happened very quickly!!

Nothing else done for xmas today, although the chip I needed for the Nintendo DS came today so I can sort that out and get some games on it, before wrapping it.

I have been quietly eBaying away and have made about £105 in profit overall which isn't bad. Got a few more bits to go on there, but not loads, but I have space in my cupboard and money in my pocket :D (kind of!)

Thanks for all the kind comments about the cake!

    Xmas Saver!
Hey RoxieW, theres a couple of things missing on your list:

Make time for a coffee or 2
    Sample a Baileys or 2
Chocolate for emergeny purposes, as energy may sap while wrapping presents.

    xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx
