Help- I'm confused by sellers email

• Transfering from Paypal to her bank account would take 5 - 7 days but they must be really skint if they cannot afford the postage
• Yeah but she can still afford to buy designer clothes off eBay though. Funny that.

• So what is the difference between the echeque and the instant payment?

I have sold someone something and was told by Paypal to wait for the funds to clear before posting item as it was an echeque...I assumed the buyer had done this form of payment deliberately and knew about the delay of waiting for funds to clear. She didn't, and wasn't even aware that her payment was an echeque so wasn't expecting to wait.

It is a good idea to send the copy of the "Paypal echeque email" to the buyer and I'll do that in future!!!

I HOPE YOU GET YOUR SUIT!!!!!!!!!

• Now I'm really confused.

Whats the difference between paypal and an echeque when I use paypal for buying?

When I sell,as soon as I receive confirmation from paypal that I have received a payment I post the item.

Should I wait until the funds have cleared in my bank account?

I've heard of paypal payments bouncing, I always wait for funds to clear into my account before sending items out. Also had a problem with one buyer which I sent goods to and then they tried it on saying non receipt of goods and tried a charge back. Lucky I got a recorded delivery note.
• Well its not an echeque I sent, it was cash from my account. I have never heard of a Paypal payment "bouncing". You could receive money into your account and immediately spend it on another item on eBay for example. Also, the point is, It's not like she kept me in the picture. I had to chase her to ask her when she was going to send me item. Otherwise, I would of been in the dark wondering if I had been done. If you have a policy of waiting until the money has been withdrawn then you should state this in your auctions and let potential buyers know. If i knew about this beforehand, then I would not of placed a bid.

Also, I have over 500 positives/no negs on the buying id I used. How likely am I to be on the fiddle?

Paypal payments don't 'bounce' echeque payments can.

An echeque is:

where it says :

When you send money with an eCheque from a UK bank account, the transaction is held as pending for seven to nine business days, until the electronic funds transfer clears your bank

bargainbabe paid by a straight paypal payment so should not be waiting for her item, sellers should not wait to draw funds to their personal bank account before despatching items as all that will happen is that those sellers will end up with disgruntled buyers, poor feedback and chargebacks.

Personally if I was bargainbabe I would be seriously considering a chargeback by about day 10.

• Well my problems are deepening. I received a pair of trousers this morning that were supposedly in "excellent condition". They have a button missing and they are bobbled. No real point in contacting the seller as I won them for 99p (+P+P@£1.20) so i've put them in the charity bin.
Another seller hasn't responded to my emails (About an item I won last friday which I haven't received. In fact I've heard nothing at all since paying :( ) but has read them (I'm on aol so is the seller. You can check the status of the mail) I don't like hassling people and I've sent the same email x2 in as many days. Looks like I'm going to have to instant message them when they're are online again. They're feedback is good at 100% and 115 transactions.
I'm sure you can only make 2 chargebacks a year (?) so I'm reluctant to make claims as they are for very minimal amounts (under £10)

It's not my week. :(

• well I'm an impatient buyer and I don't like waiting longer than 7 working days for items paid for by paypal. I know it sounds bad, but the fact that she's skint isn't my problem is it? I start work on Monday and I need the suit. if I knew what i know now then I wouldn't of placed a bid. Would of probs of been quicker to pay by cheque or postal order..only she only accepts Paypal!

Have a heart, she has to pay for postage, which you have sent her, but she can't get her hands on immediately!

PayPal isn't the instant payment it pretends to be in that you can't get your hands on the cash immediately. I've held on to stuff and advised the buyer while I waited for the Paypal funds to physically hit my bank account and therefore get the postage money. Granted it was a 25Kg package going to USA and postage was well over £100, but if I'd posted it before the money was in my bank I'd have spent the grocery money!!!

Immaterial, sellers should ship items as soon as the buyers have paid. Even paypal will allow a chargeback for items not received from as early as day 7 as they require items to be despatched in a timely manner.
