Help- I'm confused by sellers email
Comments
-
Have had that happen to me three times this month, not the email
but having to wait for my goods purchased through paypal.
The first time it happened I emailed seller after 7 days to find out where my stuff was.
His explanation was that as I had payed by e-cheque(PayPal)he had transferred the funds into his normal bank account and would send goods when it had cleared,(this took about 21 days).
I also found this confusing as I had thought that paying through paypal was as good as paying with cash.
I have since had it happen twice more, and now assume everyone pays it into their bank account and waits for it to clear.
When I sell I wait for a paypal payment and then send goods.0 -
Hi All,
This is my first post on this forum, so I hope you don't mind me commenting on your Paypal issues!....you see I am a very well established e -bayer of many years standing and I hope I can clarify the issue regarding Paypal.....It would seem that the original seller does indeed not have enough cash to post your item, (which I quite agree with everyone is wrong!! and poor service)...however the fact that she goes on to say about waiting for money and the other writers comments about Paypal being like cash....are both right and wrong!!
...We all have the option to transfer any credit funds from our Paypal accounts to our personal bank accounts....but of course Paypal really do not want anyone to do that as they lose the money from being in their accounts and so they put a delay of between 3 and 5 working days to transfer funds from Paypal to a personal bank account, hence the delays in people waiting for money to clear into their personal accounts before posting....now personally I alwys post an item as soon as I receive it into my Paypal account as I have the money tecnically, however some people obviously want to be that little bit safer!!..hope this clarified things and helps
Cheers

Hi Dave
Thanks for that. I recently bought and paid via paypal immediately, thinking irem would be sent quickly. I emailed about 9 days later and was told that he was waiting for funds to "clear". I was not impressed.
I only sell occasionally but always post items right away if they are paid with paypal.0 -
paypal has its benefits, it IS fast, and it IS easy
however, it also has some MAJOR disadvantages

basically, as a seller its very easy to loose your money and goods due to 'chargebacks', fraudulant or otherwise, all these sellers are doing is trying to protect themselves against a buyer pulling their money back. what they are doing in my opinion (and more importantly, ebay's) is wrong
Personally, I've been effectivley forced into accepting paypal for cheaper auctions, i'll pretty much flatly refuse to accept paypal for anyithing over £30 regardless of excuses. I got some real nasty emails from one guy a month ago as i refused his paypal payment for £120 THREE times, eventually, he got the hint and paid by cheque.
. the auction clearly stated NO PAYPAL FOR THIS ITEM,
however, if you accept paypal on your auction, and then refuse it, ebay won't like that and can have you down as a non perfoming seller!.
Just be careful, that's allmoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

If someone pays by paypal then paypal themselves expect that item to be despatched in a 'timely' manner, this is usually taken to mean within a week as on day 7 the buyer can start a chargeback for non delivery anyway.
I certainly would never expect to wait longer than 10 days for an item, I would be complaining by day 7.
Bargainbabe, the fact that this seller cannot afford to send your item until payment reaches her account is not your fault, if you don't get a despatch date by day 8 or 9 then just email her politely and say you are sorry but you cannot wait any longer and would like a refund, that will either push her into sending the item immediately, or leave a chargeback available to you on say day 10.
dsdl23185 Echeques are the exception to the post immediately rule, the payment can actually take at least 10 working days to reach the sellers paypal account and paypal themselves will warn that seller not to ship item until payment has cleared. If I get an echeque I would always warn the buyer that their item will be delayed, and even send them a copy of the paypal email to me, I would never ship on an echeque payment until funds were safely in my paypal account.

Aha! But PayPal will not be able to recover your money from the seller's account anyway, as she has cleared it. No point in the chargeback. I'd never hold goods, waiting for money to clear - you can get the money to your bank account anyway by the time the chargeback can be filed. Also, if I had no money for postage I would make sure I kept the buyer in the loop.:wall:0

I'm getting really sick of sellers not keeping me informed on (1) payment acknowledgement, (2) postage times (3) potential delays.
I'm not unreasonable. If the sellers keep me informed with all of the above then I'm quite happy to wait for my item. However, what I am extremely getting annoyed with is having to chase the item that I paid immediately for! I'm currently waiting for 3 items that I paid for last week and I haven't heard or received a thing. I've emailed them and I've only had 1 reply which stated:
"You should receive your item tomorrow. My apologies for the delay"*
*That was yesterday by the way and the postie's been. Guess what? No item!
If there was going to be a delay then why didn't they let me know? Why was it down to me to chase it.
I'M FED UP WITH IT!

Oh ok. Talk of the devil and she shall appear. I sent this email last night:
"Hi there,
I'm a bit confused. I have now paid you and that payment is instant. Its not like a cheque where you wait for funds to clear. That's why most buyers prefer to use Paypal as its quick and you get your item quicker. I'm sure you can appreciate that it is unfair to keep me waiting for my item when I have paid. I don't understand why you are waiting for my payment to go to your bank before posting the item to me? That could take a while and I really need it for Monday as that's when I start my job. I'm not sure how your financial situation effects the timing of posting my item?
Regards"
I have just received this:
"i'll post it as soon as i can, hopefully it will be 2moro or friday as i am working 2 day."
 :wall:
Why do I get this uneasy feeling that I might not receive this blimmin' item.

Bargainbabe is she still listing and selling items?
If so make sure you keep an eye on her sales as if you need to do a chargeback make sure you slam it in when she has had auctions finish as paypal should freeze the funds and retain them for you.
