  • You did take a pop at people whose opinions were different to yours yesterday. I think those who post politely 100% of the time are very few and far between. I had a big snap last week myself (then apologised to everyone:o )

I agree i do not say I post politly 100% of the time, i start off polite but you do get jumed on so many times somtimes that i loose it and speak to them how they like to speak to me (except for mewbie which i apologised for).

I wanted to see what the valuation would come back at, just to see if we did get a good deal. (Its market price as a new build was original £340K purchased £250K) It came back at £306K! £56K more than I purchased for!

That's a very useful surveyor you have there. He has, by the look of things, just knocked 10% off the original new-build asking price and he seems to have discounted the evidence provided by your purchase at £250k. That's a very strange thing for him to do.

In case I am in need of an extraordinarily optimistic valuer, can I have his details, please?

It sounds like a nice house, and I hope you and your family are extremely happy there.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Giving the first 3 or 4 letters of your postcode is not personal details as it will cover a wide area. If you still don't want to give that, then I can only assume you are just bulls1tting about how your house has gone up in value.

Hmm, not sure. Only yesterday someone pulled the very house for sale out and put it on the thread when the OP had given the first part of her postcode. Considering she had been very specific about what she'd accept and her circumstance I would have felt very uncomfortable too. I'd feel even more uncomfortable knowing some of the dear but slightly, unconventional people who read this might pop round somewhere I was living longterm :o

I think PayDay has a vaild point here.

I respect your posts JustPurchased, and agree with most of what you say - but I can't see how your new build has increased in vaule recently.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

What may not be doom and gloom for you, beecher - may well be for someone else.

No, but looking in purely in terms of what is needed in the long term, it is necessary. An economy based on credit was never going to be anything more than a pyramid scheme - obviously I feel sorry for those who have been caught out and believed the myth of 'no more boom and bust', and obviously the economy is going to be in a truly horrific state for years (something many are still in denial about).

My problem with the phrase 'doom and gloom' is that it is often used by people who believe that things aren't really as bad as is stated. Frankly it is more than likely that things are actually going to be much much worse.

Sorry mate the first 4 letters would give you a great detail and the first 3 not enough. As i have shown a picture of my house, the purchase price some one could easily find my address off land data soon so i dissagree (it is not like there are a thousand purchased a month in my area).
After someone got killed by someone on a forum, i have a wife and a young son. I would never compromise there saftey to suit you.
But you dont have to belive me but I have nothing to gain by B/Sing you. But you would obviously love to find a house in my area for less than the valuation. Lets put it this way there is a 5 bed terace (newbuild 2 years ago) less than a 1/4km away on the market for £335K, so why would i not use that as an example rarther than the valuation.
Reason I see the valuation by a mortgage lender at the moment as nearer to the expected sale value.

Sorry I have not go the details in front of me (i called them today too see how the application was going) but the lender is First direct. I should have a copy out with the offer in the next few days.
Would county wide sound correct? The OH was in when they surveyed.
Perhaps it came out higher as it is not on the published land reg figures yet. .
