Yes but he isnt a young scally lad is he. He is a serving member of the British Army who deserves respect.
And thanks for your concern I have been treated for PTSD and am feeling much better these days.
Its about a principle its not really such a big deal to have to sleep in your car, he is a soldier im sure he has spent many uncomfortable nights in places you wouldnt dream of being in, but the point is the prejudice. Do you Get it? probably not.
Just because you belong to a particular organisation doesn't mean that you are "due" any respect0 -

I agree respect has to be earned and i think that recently the British army as an organisation has earned that respect.
If however that respect is then negatated by an individuals behaviour he should loose our respect, this individual deserves some respect, he had returned from afghanistan after being in a conflict zone, going to the funeral of a collegue killed in that conflict zone. Have you ever been in an area of conflict apart from this forum, I wonder?0 -

The wound/injury? A broken wrist. After jumping out of a wagon.
This sounds like he's making a martyr of himself - was that the only hotel in the area? He had a car, could he not drive to another?
This sensationalism is the sort of stuff you'd expect to find in the Daily Mail, not on the BBC.
Good points.
It is clear from this thread that half the idiots on it probably read the Daily Mail judging from their responses.
I have a lot of respect for soldiers but I can't believe you have all been sucked into the glorified article from one news source. Since when were the media well rounded and unbiased?
I doubt we have the full story, we have one side of it. Stop being so naieve and get a grip.Amo L'Italia0 -

Wonder away but try not to lose any sleep over it.
I do not know the chap in question so I have no reason to respect him or dis-respect him.0 -

Its not about the bloody stupid story, newspapers are about making money mostly, we all know that.
Its a point of principle, screw the article deal with the issue the unwarranted prjudice and subsequent discrimination.0
