I have constance access to my credit file through Experian and it shows up on there. It costs me £6.99 a month though, but I find it invaluable. It also shows which creditors have defaulted you.
You can sign up for a month long free trial and then cancel before you need to start paying. This is what I intended to do, but I found it so beneficial I kept it going!

Hi Everyone..This site has gone very quiet..Is that good? I haven't heard anything from 1st credit since they agreed to a dmp. No statements..no calls..no letters..nothing. So, I have no idea the status of my account. I'm nervous of calling them or even writing to them unless the whole scary thing kicks off again.. Any advice?..Are any of you in the same position? Perhaps I should let sleeping dogs lie?0

1st Credit tend to put all their efforts into bullying people for payment or to increase payments, or making daft legal threats.
So if they have accepted your DMP then you will probably hear little from them, as they must have decided they will get no more from you.

I think you're right Fermi.. I guess I'm just curious as to whether my balance is reducing or, they have loaded it with charges! I'm sure the they have a set review time period, ie: 6 months, when they'll rise from the swamp and contact me again to have another crack at intimidation.
Although, with recent warnings, they may just start behaving with integrity.. 'as if !!!'...0 -
I posted in this thread back in september ish last year, after receiving a few letters from 1st credit demanding payment for a debt from quickquid.co.uk( a debt that had nothing to do with me) I sent off a prove it letter someone linked me to and after a letter from 1st credit stating that they had received it, i then heard nothing else until today.
I've now received a letter direct from quickquid stating:In response to your fraud claim, the fraud department has initiated an investigation as soon as we recieved your complaint through 1st credit. In order to proceed we must verify a few pieved of information; Therefore we ask that you call the fraud department at 0808-234-4558 extension 5424.
Any opinions? Thanks!0 -
I've just received a letter from Citi saying the debt is nothing to do with them, and they will not be chasing me, so they do no have to send a CCA. I asked 1st for the agreement not citi so clearly they do not have it.
AFX, just ignore them, they try every trick in the book to get you to phone them then they lie to get you give them DD details then they raid you bank account.0 -
I notice that next Monday (20 July) there is a Dispatches programme on the telly about debt collectors and the tactics they use - must watch that one!One life - your life - live it!0

hi new to site and was wondering if anyone could help, last year recieved a letter from 1st credit demanding payment for a debt they claimed i owed relating to a tv i rented yrs ago. I disputed it because i didn't owe the debt they claimed (They billed me for extra 12 month contract cos they say i signed a new one b4 i left which i didnt) I went to cab and they contacted them on my behalf and requested copy of contract, at first they sent me a letter saying they would get it from the original company but sent me nothing. cab then contacted orig company themselves but they said they had no contract and 1st credit had it. cab then contacted 1st credit again and informed them what orig company said and told them to produce contract if they had one. (this didnt surprise me as i knew i hadnt sugned any contract) They admitted they didnt but said if i didnt pay it would effect my credit, cab told thme i wouldnt pay as the debt was unenforcable and wrote letters for credit agencies for me explaining what happened.
they then left me alone for 5 mths but have now started phoning me constantly threatening with court, baliffs etc, they dont listen and just talk over me. they havent sent anything in writing but i dont know what to do to get them to stop, im going thru a differcult time at mo and cant deal with the hassle espec as i dont owe the debt they claim.
can anyone help please?0 -
