Pooky, glad dh is enjoying his new job x
Silvercharming, what a lovely post, I must admit I have always been OS, but also worked full time and was a single mum for many years too, it was always a bit of a struggle, I would leave home at 7.15 in the morning with my baby in tow, drop her at my mums and get to work for 8, worked till 4.30 pick the baby up then home for 5.30, cook dinner bath play etc, put baby to bed, and I decorated the house from top to bottom while she was in bed, it was hard work week in week out, but it had to be done to pay the bills. One day I was off work and at my mums with my dd, and I was making her marmite on bread and butter, dd would not eat it as I had put too much marmite on, and asked her nan to make it, as nan knew how she liked it,I must admit it bought me up sharp, here I was working day in day out and missing out on my dd's early years and all the important things, so I went into work and asked to go part time and have never looked back, yes my money has gone down, but I had more time with my lovely dd, which is worth more than any amount of cash, she has grown up so quickly and I WILL NOT miss any more of her growing.
Sometimes I feel guilty when my OH goes out to work everyday at 7 and gets back anytime between 5 and 7 at night, but, we have a home cooked meal every night, the house is clean, the washing done, and most importantly I take my dd to and from school every day, what I am trying to say I think, is that there are more important things to life than working and a huge salary,
I think we need to be proud to be OS, I might even get a t-shirt printed 'OS and proud'
Well you can tell I am fed up with doing nothing, the most I have done today is get myself some cornflakes, still feeling chesty and still have a pain in the chest but I am not feeling guilty s*d it for once, I even watched Jeremy Kyle this morning
:rotfl:

Morning Chums ,
can't believe how grotty the weather is. DD,tribe and I had a great picnic at Greenwich Park yesterday. As I am doing the GC this month I am pleased to say I only spent 39p yesterday.Didn't count the petrol as I already had a tankful anyway.
The children were great, and the weather was kind.Unlike this morning which is wet and windy. I will have a NSD today as I am working my way through my freezer still.
Just about to put my SC on to make a big pot of veggie soup with all the odds and ends of veggies left in the fridge. I also finished my iron mountain at long last this morning.
Well time to toddle off and put the ironing away (I hate that job)
Take care everyone and <<hugs to those in need >>

Hello all !
Lovely sunny day. Got dentist appt. this afternoon and hoping he can fill it and not take it out making me resemble someone who should have a pointy hat and broomstick !
Kids running amok last night.........arguing and carrying on then youngest one legged it out of his window.........again ! Must be the weather or a sign that school's about to start !! Oldest one has just been nagged about missing plates and has brought them down to create a sort of sculptured effect on the worktop  Words must be said !!!!
Shan;t be about tomorrow, Thursday or Friday as, tooth permitting, I'll be visiting my Mum for her birthday so catch you all at the weekend.
Have a good day and hugs ((((((((((:o ))))))))) to those who need themMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Good morning all!
Redruby - glad you're resting!
Happy birthday to master pixie and master mix, jelly and ice cream all round!
Silvercharming - lovely post!
Zoe - I know exactly what you mean, os is hard work, most of the time it is just a habit though, wish the housework and cleaning bit was more of a habit but I really really hate it! The cooking I enjoy most of the time, and since we invested in more freezer space it means that I can freeze leftovers and extra meals so when I really can't be bothered there is something to eat that requires no effort! Though yesterday it was a race to get the extra pasta and sauce in the freezer before ds went back for thirds, about 20mins before his dinner was ready!
Having a clutsy day today, went to weight the flour for the foccacia (can never seem to make enough to freeze this, must try harder not to eat it all lol), and knocked it everywere, I looked like Caspar the ghost! Then I stood in the cats water so had a nice sticky glue all over the kitchen floor - can't believe how many times I seem to mop it at the mo! Then I'd just filled the remoska with veg and split peas and two kettles of water when I knocked it and sloshed boiling water and onions and carrots all over the place, kitchen cupboards and surfaces have now had a good wipe down as well! I'm sure it's not like that on the flylady thread!
Got home from work last night to find the kids hadn't done their chores, sigh! I wasn't best pleased, so this morning spoke to them all! dd1 did the hallway and tidied that up and hoovered and cleared the table, so she'd done her bit, ds hadn't walked the dog, so he will be in bother when he wakes up, no lift to the cinema later for him now! dd3 denied all knowledge of being asked to tidy and dd2 told me she'd tidied up a corner, don't know which one as all had bits of paper in them and assorted junk! dd2 was in a real mood and said none of the stuff was hers anyway, when I said I was off to do it myself, which involves black bags and the rubbish tip, she said fine! Have a black sack full of toys which are mainly dd3's, then assorted clothes belonging to dd2 and dd3, ds and portable dvd and assorted games and dvds that belong to dd2 - all now sitting next to the dustbin! oh has just told her to stop being stubborn and apologise and ask if she can sort out the bag, they all know quite well that I will get rid of the stuff (though I wouldn't actually bin the toys and electronic bits, I'd donate them to the charity shop, done this in the past to dd1 and ds until they learnt to tidy). Anyway binmen come early tomorrow so we shall see what happens!
Yes I am a cruel and wicked mother! But they all know the rules and sometimes need reminding, usually they are pretty good about putting their stuff in their rooms.
Anyway, best go and get on with thinking up other cruel and unusual tortures! Have a good day all xx
Lynseyanne - argh, clamping is the devil's work, it should be made illegal and as for towing you away as well, words fail me! Can you appeal?GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Oldest one has just been nagged about missing plates and has brought them down to create a sort of sculptured effect on the worktop
Sorry, mary but I had to :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: My DS does exactly the same except I also get spoons, glasses and the odd fork!
mummysaver I agree with you wholeheartedly on the "tidy straight to a bin bag" thing. My DS and DD know that when I start bringing the bin bags out I mean business and they had better get tidying.Hope you get things sorted with your DD though - can't they just be so annoying with their stubborness?
dorry ((hugs)) to you.
redruby glad to see that you are resting.
Happy Birthday to master mix (Sounds like a rapper or a DJ, doesn't he?)
Well, my b/p today was 132/76 which is a massive improvement on the 160/108 it was earlier this year. So I'm v pleased. :j :j Been to the gym to keep the momentum going.
We are about to head out as I promised to treat DS and DD to lunch out for the last days of their holidays. However, I think I will stick with the salad bar.
(((hugs))) to all xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

Last day before school starts for DD(14) so made her some pancakes from scratch.
She happily wolfed down six of them with lemon and sugar!!!
Treated DD(19) to a new pay as you go phone yesterday, which was quite expensive but as her old contract finishes in a couple of weeks, she will then get another contract which is half the price of the old one and gives her the sim card to put in the new phone - even buying the new phone I am still saving £160 in eighteeen months!
Once DD is back at school and other DD is back at uni I want to go back to having an account book, where I enter what is in bank account, take off all direct debits and standing orders straight away, then enter it every time I take money out and what it was for. It used to really help me keep track of where the money went and I want to get back to that.
If I can prove to myself that with a bit of effort I can pay for it out of DHs salary, rather than use savings then I want to buy a Remoska, rather than have the oven on every time I want to bake a few rolls etc.
So far OS has tempted me into buying a slow cooker (just had to replace it after four years of hard work from it), a MR breadmaker (just replaced with a Panasonic which is brill!) old MR breadmaker went to someone who will use it and saved about £40 on thePanasonic as it was on sale.
Started to make jam last year and have made elderberry syrup for coughs and colds over the winter!"This site is addictive!"
