Hi belle - I'm posting on the paper hat challenge as no-one else seemed to be posting on here. Since it's Ruby's thread, I didn't want to turn it into my diary... Hope everyone else okay....

  • Sorry everyone, I just haven't had time to get near the laptop recently with DS hogging it for himself and work and life being very busy. Half term now so hopefully I will have more time. I have also finally got around to renewing the anti-virus software on the computer in my ds bedroom so that he can use that again and I can have my laptop back!!!!

I hope you are all well? How many of you are off work for half term?

I had my hair cut and coloured last night and I love it!! The hairdresser comes to our house and yesterday she re-styled my hair, coloured it with foils (highlights and two colours), and cut everyone else's hair (dh, ds & dd) for £60. What a bargain!! Do you agree? When I think what I used to pay in the likes of toni and guy.

It is a lovely sunny day here today so I intend to make the most of this afternoon and get out and about. Apparantly tomorrow is going to be horrid!!

What are you all up to this weekend?

I promise I will post more often, are you all with me still?

    with love

Hi Ruby - yes that hair deal sounds like a bargain... I'm still subscribed. I still catch sight of you on the special occasions board which is good...

It's raining here, no sign of any sunshine.

We are off for half term and I'm really chuffed. You know when you really, really need the time off.

Bye for now! Have a great weekend everyone... Does anybody know what's happening with 1 step?

  • Aw! thank you for asking after me, made me feel all warm and cosy!

I am ok been busy at work which is keeping my mind off things, find weekends hard though. I have filled out one lot of paperwork for payplan and have more to do later. Hubby has been very very low but he has gone out somewhere (no spends though) with his daughter and that always cheers him up.

Got my new bank account open and lots of dd forms to change so things are slowly progressing.

A bright note though! as hubby is self employed he has an account with the local cash and carry and we stocked up on lots of things there yesterday. and I've been getting some exercise which always makes me feel a tint but better.

    Thank you all for asking!

    Hi SH,
I love the special occasions board, took receipt of my cones for snowman soup today!! I am looking forward to making them for the children, it is a really inexpensive gift that I'm sure they will both love. Might do one for DH as well.

We have walked into town and back and the weather has slowly got worse, no sun at all now.

I know just what you mean about half term. I felt completely brain dead yesterday on my first day off, so certainly am ready for the break. Although at the moment we have something planned for each day!!!

    take care.

    Hi 1step
It is good to hear from you and I am glad you are feeling a little brighter. As your name says it really is one step at a time with this money business isn't it and believe me my mood changes with the wind. One day I am positive because we are dealing with things and are being way more sensible and responsible than we have in the past and the next day I am really depressed that we have been soooooo stupid!!! So please don't every worry that you are alone.

Cash and carry shop sounds perfect for this time of year.

  • Hi, it's me, late again!
Had a good day, busy and stressful at work but was good in the end! Tomorrow is looming and will start with a difficult conversation with a colleague but needs to be done.
I have been invited to interview next week but am not sure if I know enough about the new job - the one I have is like the curates egg - good in parts and the bits that are good are fantastic but the other bits are *!!"*!
DFW stuff is happening but half term is coming - argghhhh. Every month seems close to the wire money wise although I am managing to keep 'pots' afloat for bills etc that need paying.
I am taking leave next week and will make all my Christmas cards. Lists are ready and I do believe I may make my Christmas purchases next week!
Anyway, enough about me - what's the news Ruby wise, SH, SC. IC etc - what are you all up to?

Hi YB, how did the difficult conversation go? and what day is your interview?
Best of luck - knock em dead!!

DFW stuff for me is slow but steady, we are finding that each month is so very tight but just about getting by. It becomes tough on weeks like half term or when just about anything out of the ordinary pops up.

You are very good making your christmas cards, that is beyond my artistic talents (or lack of it) and probably beyond my patience level as well.;)

I'm looking forward to hearing about your purchases if you make any.

Ruby, the sleepover went really well she and her friends said they had a great time. although the living room carpet looked a bit worse for wear in the morning ( i suspect they had a popcorn throwing competition) but i saved a fortune on not providing a party at a venue or them going to the pictures.

having a troublesome time at work and really feel quite upset, I know I wont sleep tonight because i am constantly going over things in my head.
I am going to talk to one of the bosses tomorrow (really nervous about that ) but it has to be done for my peace of mind.

    Hi SC,
Glad your DD had a good time, I never had anything like that when I was little and I'm looking forward to my DD having such nights when she is a bit older.

I'm really sorry to hear you are having a troublesome time at work (YB was having to have a difficult conservation at work this week, is it the position of the moon!!) Has the situation improved any? And please tell me you are sleeping ok?

On a lighter note, I would love to see pictures of your baskets etc.

    Hope you are ok.

  • Hi Ruby

I have just joined this forum today and have been reading some of you past postings - you are inspirational. I am massively in debt £67891 as of today and am desperate to start to get rid of this. The last few months have been very stressful with money worries and I have many sleepless nights. I have 3 little boys and feel I spend most of my time shouting at them as I am so stressed. I look forward to being a part of this community and dealing with my debt.

    Keep up the good work

    Hi there 40somethingmum,
Thanks for your kind words and welcome to the forums. The support from these forums really is amazing and it is so reassuring to read that you are not alone.

Feel free to post any time and I (and others on this thread) will always reply even if it takes a few days. Finding this website, seeing that I am not alone and some of the very early advice I got from other people on here has stopped us going under earlier this year so please do keep reading and posting I feel sure it will get easier from this point on.

Best wishes and come back again soon.
