Poor you, how demoralising. Well done for closing the account. It was a blip, that's not to deny the seriousness, but I'm sure all of us longterm DFWs do stupid things once in a while. I am prone to doing things like buying a needless takeaway when things get particularly bad. Put it behind you and look forward to your holiday.

Edited to add - I have transferred £3792.50 from a credit card to my current account this month, so your £50 looks quite manageable in comparison.

Hi Buddiebabe - please try not to beat yourself up about the online bingo. You did exactly the right thing by closing the account straight away - it could have been so much worse.

    Go forwards from now on.

And with the drop in interest rate in your two cards, more good things happened than bad this month.

Hi Buddiebabe - how was your weekend? Its been so hot down here and I've spent a couple of days walking around in the sunshine. Its also great to be able to get the washing dry outside (don't I sound boring now?)

I'm ready for work tomorrow (after a week's holiday), packed lunches are made and clothes laid out ready.

I'm quite glad its a new month too and I'm aiming for a quite steep 15 NSDs.

    Hi

Sorry i've not updated for a while. I've been away for my holiday and had a great time it was so warm and sunny which really made a difference. If the weather had been bad it would have been a completely different story. I had such a good time when i was away im totally depressed now im back at home. I've not been good with money while i've been away and i really need to look at everything but at the moment i really cant be bothered! Im going to get up and get dressed and get out the house for a while and hopefully i'll feel better about things later.

Hi Buddiebabe - I'm glad you had a good holiday. Coming home is always terrible - I think the worst part is actually unpacking the suitcase!

Hey MrsPorridge i unpacked one case full of washing on the Friday when i got home and all the washing was done and tumbledried on Friday and i've added it to the ironing mountain!!!

The holiday was great but am just so depressed about being home. I have done nothing but eat for the last week and i know that i've probably put on more weight in the last week than i lost in the last 6 weeks :o so thats not good. I spent most of the journey home on Friday fighting back tears as i didn't want to come home. It was so much easier being away... we woke up early, made proper breakfasts, did the dishes after we were finished, tidied up as we went along and then just relaxed at night watching tv with no mess anywhere. I guess the thought of coming home to a house that looks like its been burgled and everything i own in boxes or all over the floor  im really ashamed by the state of the house.

I spent yesterday cleaning and clearing out the kitchen. I cleared out the top cupboards, took everything from above the kitchen cupboards down and cleaned everything. I got rid of 5 bottles of alcohol that has been in the house for years and we dont drink and i also found 6 bottles of wine that i can use for presents so i took them out the kitchen cupboard and free'd up half a cupboard which i managed to put all the glasses that were cluttering up the worktop away. I also have put some plates, mugs and glasses out as i no longer need them.

I have a cupboard full of mugs.... and also a mug rack full of them.... there are only 2 of us in the house and only me that drinks coffee.... i really dont need all the mugs but i couldn't part with any of them... is that bad??? part of me thinks i should just keep the ones i need but on the other hand they are away in the cupboard now so not cluttering anything up and i don't have anything else i would need to put in that cupboard so do you think its bad of me to hang onto them???

Im going to make a small list of things i need to get done:

    1. Check Finances
    2. Update snowball calculator
    3. Check Ebay items and work out what i've sold this month
    4. Update ebay spreadsheet with items sold in June
    5. Post a list of everything that needs paid

Your house sounds like mine - boxes everywhere and utterly depressing.

If I were you I would get rid of the mugs, yes. Just keep the five or six you like best and donate the rest to a charity shop. Then you can use that cupboard for something else.

Good luck with checking the finances - a horrible job, especially with the post-holiday blues.
