tradetime
thanks for your time on that! I realised after i'd posted that that was a bit of a cheeky post - as i was saying i didn't want to go back and have another look. It wasn't mean't like that though.....it's just so time consuming going through all these sites isn't it?
So, as you say it's possible to use indicators i will go and have another look when i next get to a computer.....:D
and yes, i'd sort of settled on Digital Look this afternoon...... I would like Sharescope but it's not the right time for me to be paying for these services.
So, i will try and get on with practice trading at some point....once i've got used to a site.
Thanks again tradetime!0 -
Seems you can add a large range of indicators. Digital Look appears to do charts as well. I can't be bothered to sign up just to see what they are like though
Just had a look at the options on my DL account, they seem fairly comprehensive for what most people want, with a stack of indicators. Nothing too outlandish like ichimoku clouds etc though.Mmmm, credit crunch. Tasty.0 -
No worries, services such as those supplied by sharescope et al are really only necessary for people who are daytrading and thus can justify the cost. For someone who wants to swing trade or position trade then it should be possible to use free charts from the likes of ADVFN and Digital Look.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

There is a program called Quotetracker which is essentially a trading frontend, but has an integrated charting package. I have noticed that in the setup menuit appears to support ADVFN streaming. I have no idea how it would work in practice with their free subscription however, The program itself is free to use supported by ads, or can be registered to remove the ads. Might be worth a look. It also seems to have a data source for Motley Fool delayed whatever they provide, in theory if you can get data you can build charts.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

Okay another day - and decided i will have a look at the stock screener on DL.....
I will report back any progress (but it may take me a while - lol)0 -
Willingtolearn, if you want to try your hand at virtual investing first, I would suggest taking a look at Stockopedia (www.stockopedia.co.uk) - it's a social networking site for investors and they have a virtual trading platform where you can sign up for free. You start off with a 1 million Stockopedia pounds and then can buy and sell as much as you like. It's quite a realistic trading simulator and will get you used to the mechanics of trading. They have also launched a "Stockopedia Challenge" which is a "fantasy fund" competition amongst the different users, with various prizes. My fund is doing really badly, unfortunately, but it's all good fun.
I would also recommend both Motley Fool and ADVFN which are good for share tips and discussions on the merits and issues with various stocks.0 -
Thanks DBrckll!
I will check it out soon! For today i am going to focus on DL just because i've started so i'll finish! lol. However i will add your link to my list of ones to check out. Thanks again!0
