G&B try drinking pineapple juice - it's great for sore throats - I was recommended this when I had tonsillitis and it was very soothing. It should really be the pure stuff not from concentrate, but I'm sure it'll work just as well. Another thing that works is eating some fresh basil as this has a natural antiseptic and anaesthetic quality.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Hi again everyone and :hello: to any newbies (I'm a new oldie IYSWIM :D)

Dusty - It's great to be back. I'm working to rule from now on. I'm paid 9 - 5, so that's what I'm working. DS's GF is OK - ish:confused: Thank you for remembering. Her folks went to Hertfordshire last Tuesday am, but GP had said she didn't think GF was up to it. I went to see nurse on Friday of the week before and GP called me in to tell me, and say she hoped I'd be OK with a lodger. It's a bit of a hoot really, as she knows me well enough to know she's not overstepping. Anyway, GF came to us Monday pm, Longleat Tuesday, other stuff all week (but not out every day) and had a great time, took her home yesterday and they've been needling her ever since, telling her to make lunch for them etc :wall: so this morning she blew and told her mother she's moving out when she's 16. The father of her friend that ran away, then ended up staying with her family till the end of term, has been speaking to local police and they told him she can leave at 16! Now GF's folk know this so they will probably let her go without too much trouble. :j

Count me in to do my best Miss Pigpen, but my own list as usual - it works for me!

    DW, WM, TD, BM, CM
    Feed dogs, cats and fish
    Groom dogs and cats
    Walk dogs

Manic Monday - Kitchen, Utility and Dining Room/Area

    Level One
    Clean floors in these areas
    Water plants
    Level Two
    Wipe down surfaces
Wipe kitchen cupboard fronts and kickboards
Wipe down fronts of major appliances (cooker, fridge, freezer etc) and inside the microwave
    Level Three
Dust any extra furniture in dining area, checking for cobwebs on way round
Clean washer drawer, filters on the dryer, dishwasher and cooker hood filters
Clean the oven if missed last week or it needs it
Extra tasks - if you want to do more:
Wipe window sills and clean windows in these rooms
Wipe down any tiles and shine those taps, a toothbrush is great for cleaning away the gunk!
Empty one shelf (or the top of a cupboard) clean it, clean what's on it and put it all back
Clean out and organize one cupboard, more if you like
Wipe & replace small appliances like kettle, toaster etc (wipe under too, especially the toaster!)

I'm hoping I might get to the gym tomorrow night as well.

Is anyone else thinking Autumn's arrived early? Just had an early bath, in PJ's ready to watch Martin Clunes, then off to bed. I haven't managed that for months. I might even do a bit of knitting. Does anyone (or their DDs) like those fingerless type gloves that come up to elbows? I found a nice pattern:

going to make some for GF. You have to register, but it's free.

Methinks I might finishing sewing up my crocheted blanket before winter gets here. I've also asked DH to take out the false ceiling in the hall, so we can put a curtain rail up at the front door. Why do they make uPVC doors to cut draughts, then put two glass panes, so it's colder?

Night night all, sleep well. x

BTW - DH doing Usk to Newport Canoe Race next week, hopefully. If anyone wants to sponsor him, pm me for info.

Where are all the grasshoppers coming from? Every day there seem to be either one or two of them in the house, and I keep putting them back outside!

There's also the little problem of spiders deciding to come in  . As I'm phobic this is becoming a bit of an issue...

Pigpen - just wait until your children are out drinking in the same places as you (it won't be long now) who's going to feel more out of place, you or them?! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi pigpen can I ask you - when you say clean the windows do you mean just inside or outside as well?
And when you say clean the bin - on tomorrow's list - is this the kitchen bin or the outside wheelie bin?
Meant to ask before but never got round to it - sorry to be a nuisance and thick!!!

    Hi

    Thanks Pigpen.

I'm in again. Ds1 is home it's so nice to have him back (although i bet in a few more days i'll be wanting to send him back to his Dad's ;) ).

I'm going to do a trial run for school tomorrow. I'm terrible at getting up in the morning, i'll sleep through my alarm and only wake up when Ds2 wakes up, which is about half 8:o . This morning it was 9:eek: . Ds1 is starting secondary school on Tuesday and he'll have to be there for 8.20. This means we'll have to leave at 8. There will be no more seeing him across the road to school at 5 to 9 in my dressing gown.

I've told Ds1 to set his alarm and wake me up at half 6 in the morning so we can see how long it takes us to all get ready.
  • Evening all!

Well, I'm in for next week too but with the proviso I may be a little slack until I get my head round being back at work - only part time but need to get back to the gym routine too and looking after aged dad this week too - so at least level one and we'll go from there.

    Happy flying all;)
