So glad you mum is finally being moved, it's not nice being in limbo and just waiting is it? Hopefully now they can get her on the mend and home before you know it.
What a rat the ex is, still the last thing you need on your plate amongst everything is a court case so maybe its best left alone now.
Sorry about the BS party, the first few are bound to be slow until you get the feel of it. Hopefully the next one will be a huge success.0 -
is it mums x who broke in? The last thing you all need at the moment
grrrr...v. annoying! Good that mum getting there; puddy tat sounds lovely...karma if I had the energy I'd post a piccy of manu and Alfie sitting happily with each other on the sofa...

Yes it was the ex although sounds like she is goiving him another chance. Annoying thing is he lives within walking distance of the JR. We may not buy her alcohol but he will and gladly take her money. What can you do though she is a grown woman?
Saw my big bro today, it was great to see him again and chat. Hoping to get someone to watch the kids on Sunday and go out for a drink or something.
Not going to be able to see Mum now till Sat because I m working tomorrow and have BS in the evening. I was going up tonight but she was being moved at last.
Puddy is cute, very playful and keeps the kids entertained and OH busy!:j0 -
Hi Wendy. Sorry about the BS orders. Don't know if you do this at your parties but raffles are very popular and can earn you a good extra amount. All you need to do is purchase a couple of Body Shop items, for 2 prize raffles and sell tickets at £1 or £2 each or whatever's appropriate to get your money back and earn you some extra. Most people will buy a couple for each raffle. Also raffle off a bottle of wine separately. If you've got 10 people there and you only charge a £1 a ticket for the wine you'll make some back.
Most people who don't intend buying any products will usually buy a raffle ticket. You could even devise a beauty quiz. Google some questions and answers. Do this just for a bit of fun or maybe give a small prize to the winner like some sachets or a small sample of something. That way if people feel like it's more like a fun night out 'in' you may get a few more party bookings. If there's more than one winner then their names will have to go into a hat (or a cup)! As Christmas is approaching maybe do a Christmas theme quiz rather than a beauty one and let people know that towards Christmas you'll be doing Christmas themed parties. I know at some parties I've been to they've charged £2-£3 for a raffle ticket and sold them!! Make some catchy flyers on the computers (free) to hand out at your parties.
Don't forget to take a notepad for paper and some cheapie pens. Hope that gives you a few ideas hun.
Glad to hear your mum seems to be picking up and a cuddle from me for your puddy tat
Luvz Dizzy x
Just thought Wendy. You don't even need to buy raffle tickets, you could just put names into a hat or something and the host could be the one who pulls them out.
Ooh Wendy I'm on a roll here. Just googled and found this brilliant beauty quiz for you with answers (scroll down for answers after the bonus section)http://www.diva-girl-parties-and-stuff.com/beauty-trivia.html
Hope that helps. I want to do a party now!!!!Official DFW Nerd Club Member no:219In the Court Of The Crimson KingI don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.Gary Larson0 -
Those are good ideas! The one and only Tupperware party I ever went to had a "nonsense" quiz as an ice breaker - I won it by an embarrassingly long margin, the quiz was to remember as many pub names as possible. I was surrounded by young housewives, and I'd been a full time student less than a year previously, so you can imagine! Anyway... that sort of thing....
Take care.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
hope thats given you some ideas kp...now go check the balances! Sorry to hear re mum - you could always try alanon...at the end of the day she is an adult and even if she makes poor choices they are her choices to make...hard when you watch it though...Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Yes thanks - I went to reply yesterday when the computer decided it needed to shut down
. They are great ideas I plan to use. Didnt get a chance yesterday no need for icebreaking or filling in! Will try tonight.
Got 3143 sales for that party so far and 3 more orders to come so at least £30 profit when postage allowed for.
OD by £65 and non transfer CC balance £945  so not too good. Going to claim that darned £280 now before I forget really need it now and to cancel the dd.
Going to see Mum later in Oxford OH will take the kids into town hes promised them some cheap england shirts.:j0 -
Hi Wendy, hope your mum is well, I bet your glas to be seeing her. It's awful when a relative is ill and you can't get to see them every day. I really hope the BS orders will pick up for you, you've worked so hard setting it up you really need to see some rewards soon. I must admit I've never been to a BS party before but would buy if I did go. That's the trouble with me I buy something wherever I go, that's what got me into debt
Anyway, hope the kids have a nice time with OH and give our love to your mum.0 -
Morning
Sales last night £171 so getting better!
Mums fine just waiting on tests and has a cold. We had a interesting time with the boyfriend. He was there with Mum when I got there but was drunk. He verbally abused and upset some of the staff so we asked him to leave so he got abusive to us as well. He should now be banned from the ward.
DDs have a new football shirt each and DD1 had a great time yesterday at a guides concert in Birmingham, saw Sugababes, Scouting for girls, Avenue and Hoosiers that I can name, and about 6 other bands. She is just telling her friend about them chatting up some 19 yr old boys on the train!:j0 -
Thats great on the sales total! Well done - I guess its about you learning what does and doesn't work as far as atmosphere is concerned, and actually learning to *sell* - I'd be rubbish at it, I'm sure, I admire you for doing it.
Glad to hear your mum is still on the mend, tho v bad about her cold and the BF.... I don't get why we stay with men like that.
And DD1! Its a great adventure to chat up boys that are lots older, sounds like she had a great time. Oooh, I remember the first concerts I went to as a teenager - they were like that, several bands in one go in those days (oops) - seriously tho, my first ever concert when I was 13, it was The Kinks, The Tremoloes and The Who. It was amazing, at the Liverpool Empire. Happy happy.....2023: the year I get to buy a car0
