An automatic stop button?
If it is a button, surely it is manual, not automatic.
But then, I am not a toaster technical expert.
I say button but I actually just have to think about wanting it to stop and it pops up, well worth the £8.
Don't know why I put that I obviously meant the cancel button or whatever you call it. I won't edit it though since it has caused amusement.0 -

It's seen them through 3 children, a cafe business and probably 50,000 ham & cheese toasties! And you can still get the spares from them.
I'll second that - ours is 20 years old and looks and works like new - we have replaced one element so far which was actually replaced free of charge by Dualit. Makes the best toast ever!0 -
We have a Delonghi which we bought 'cause OH thought it looked stylish - It does look OK on work top but has to be on the Max setting just to get a lightly browned piece of toast. Our previous toaster a Tefal Avanti was much better. I think it's luck of the draw with the cheap supermarket ones, they either go on forever or you have trouble from the word go.
I'd certainly try contacting Morphy Richards -sadly, they don't make 'em like that any more - or like gregg1's Dualit
Good luck with your search!0 -
After 51 years (yes 51), our Morphy Richards Toaster has given up the ghost
Your old Morphy Richards could be quite collectable, apparently all that 50s/60s stuff is very popular, so you may find another use for it yet.Mark Twain "Sing like no one's listening, love like you've never been hurt, dance like nobody's watching, and live like its heaven on earth"

Thought I would give you all an update on the Morphy-Richards 51 year old toaster which prompted me to start this thread. As recommended I contacted MR and although they were pleased to hear about the long-life, they get so many similar tales that they did not want to take it any further, BUT as a long-term customer they would let me have a replacement at wholesale price. So a £34.99 toaster for £17. 49. (including delivery.) We though this was an OK deal, so ordered and paid for a very similar looking one (so that it fitted into the cupboard space) and was told it would take 3-5 working days. 7-8 working days later, still no toaster. Rang MR who put a query on DHL (the carriers). Apparently it had been sent to the wrong depot. 2 days later it arrived, unpacked it to find it was the wrong toaster. The warehouse had transposed 2 of the numbers so instead of 44328 we got 44238 or something like that. MR said sorry, they would re-deliver correct one but would have to arrange collection of the wrong one first. No way, said I, I have paid and am not sending this back until I get mine. MR finally agreed and said the new one would be with us in 5-7 working days !!
One hour later they phoned back and said in view of the error, they had decided that as a gesture, we could keep the wrong one. Result !!!
2 new toasters for £17. All credit to Morphy-Richards, great PR Ithought."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0 -

i'm constantly spinning my bread round trying to get it to toast evenly

Excellent result I'd say. It's good to know there are still some firms out there who treat their customers with respect.
