After 51 years (yes 51), our Morphy Richards Toaster has given up the ghost , so no more toast !! Can anyone recommend a replacement. As there are only 2 of us now a 2-slice machine is adequate. Thanks

I'm watching this thread with interest....whatever you do get, i strongly advise against Tesco's own brand. Have had 2 in the past 6 months, and both have been complete rubbish, with uneven browning, taking 5 mins to do even a light toasting.0

I dont care what colour it is but want a 2 slice toaster that will take a Warburtons slice of bread but most toasters will not do this so we end up cutting bits of the bread.
Can a large slice toaster be obtained?0 -

51 years is very remarkable. Have you thought of contacting the Morphy Richards company with this information. It could be a great bit of publicity for them regarding their reliability and if you approach them the right way, it may well get you a free toaster.

I used to look at good housekeeping tried&tested reports, as I always found they are good source of information. Unfortunately, they are not available online now due to the change of the website, but you could email good housekeeping institute and ask if they have any reports on toasters ( I think they do!!!! Might have a look through some old copies of the magazine if I still have them after the move).
Also, have a look at which:

I know, it is best to get personal recommendation. Ours is pretty good, but I have no idea of the brand - will have a look when I come home. My OH had it since before we met, so it might be pretty dated and not available to buy anymore!!!! (We have been together for 6 years!)Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -

Amazing.
We had a Siemens (£100) toaster but after the third replacement Amazon very kindly returned our money. Instead I bought a Dualit which was a complete disaster (only browned on one side properly). We are now into our 4th year with a Delonghi (a Dualit lookalike) the updated model being this one . I would thoroughly recommend it.0 -

I too bought this one a couple of months ago, based mainly on the (mostly) positive reviews on Amazon. I have to say that the toaster looks great- very funky- but it is pretty rubbish in terms of toasting. I have to have it all the way turned up just to get it reasonably brown. And it is not totally even either.
But it does look good :rolleyes:0
