Hope this is not a dumb question but I'm not very techie minded. Does the system come with all the software installed or do you have to do it yourself?
This machine should be up and running in your house about 30 minutes after it's delivered - it was in mineYou don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

riker71, are you using a sound card with your 5150 or on-board sound, and what's the sound quality like? I'm thinking of using a 5150 as a media-centre PC, and I might have to use on board sound to keep the PCI slots free for tuner cards.0 -

Im using onboard. The sound quality is very good, I wouldnt worry about getting a PCI sound card unless you're a real audiophile. Im using a Trust SP-3600A 2.1 system, £30 from comet cheaper than Amazon. sound is very good for music and excellent for movies

could any one help me with some modem info on this package please? We have
aol dial up at moment but want to buy this computer to use for bt broadband.Only trouble is Im not sure about whether I need a modem or not.
any info appreciated.0 -
if bt broadband uses a network card ( which it will do i guess?) it already has it built in. so if it isnt free i would remove the modem option.
infact it comes with both anyway.what is the plural of moose?

I've got almost an identical Dell and BT Broadband and it just plugs straight from the PC network card into the Broadband modem then into the wall - no internal modem needed (in fact I've taken mine out of the PC).
I've put a wireless network in at home so I actually have my Dell plugged into the wireless router box which has its own modem. You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0
