Hmm that don't look like call of duty :rotfl:

I find it funny that people say pc people are mad sepending loads of money on pc's but I've seen people spend just as stupid amounts on consoles and games so each to their own.

I don't see the problem here guys if the guy wants to spend his money on a pc then whats the harm also pc's are upgradable so can be modified and updated consoles out dated as soon as a new one comes out.
    Kind Regards

  • It's probably because £2k PCs do not fit into the ethos or spirit of MSE, considering there are viable alternatives available for much less money

also all this bollix bout the superiority of consoles is usually from people who don't know how to build/can't afford a decent gaming PC, its like comparing fords to mercedes.

All this bollix bout the superiority of pcs is usually from people who have little willies.

My, making totally blanket statements is fun!

Seriously though, I'd need to be very rich/hit on the head with something to consider spending £2,700 on something to play games with.

Is it really going to be 9 times as fun as a PS3?

Well we all have our weaknesses.

I spend £2,000 on a microphone only for people to tell me you can get them from Dixons for £9.99.

Savemoney That's a gorgeous case by Antec, Cheaper that the Cosmos S by Coolmaster.
But for your own build, your pairing a GForce 260 with a 520W PSU, it that enough juice?

Marty My last PC cost just under £2000 WITH 21" TFT (TFT back then cost £600-700). It's pointless getting into a £300 console VS £2000 PC debate. We could make snide remarks about each others gear forever..I never play on my PS3, it was bought just to see what GTA4 was like (sucks)
You get what you pay for. Oh yeah forgot to mention, It's not just for playing games, I do a lot of Photoshop work, browse, music, films etc...

Ringo The Amiga was my alltime fave computer for games - Dungeon Master, Captive, Super Starbust, Chaos Engine... Wonder if you've tried to playing your favorite games on your PC with emulators? :)

mdbarber I'm thinking out skipping the Solid State hard drives...but I did like the footage on YouTube showing a PC -switch on-to-Photoshop. How Fast!
The 300gb Raptor is looking likely but not sure about RAID, I've rather have the space than use 2 drives as one.

chopperharris It's just a spec that isn't definite, is is customisable with a little help. 8Gb Ram is one of my must haves. It's cheap. Vista 64bit will use it.
Thanks for all your other tips :)

Changed computer vendors (to PC Specialist.co.uk)
Got my build down to £1803!
Ditched the Blu Ray writer. No Solid State Drive but 2 HDDs (one's a speedy Raptor). No SLI but a pricy GForce 280 GFX card.

So none of you fancy this £11,000 uber PC below?

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with having a gaming PC. Just that pound for pound, a console offers the most value. That's obviously not what you're after though, which is fair enough.

I love playing my old Lucas Arts games on my Mac with ScummVM, and DosBos is really good for playing DOS games.

That's nothing. Try maxing out a MacPro and see how much it costs:
