    trust me he will get you out any (legal) way he can if you report him to the police

    because as i see it (and from the look at other posts most other people) the guy did his job...and your complaining....which i fully understand....but he still did his job.

    Why can't you see that? just change your locks and ring the guy up...easy

    or report him to the police and become homeless pretty quickly

    I was not planning to call the police, and how would that result in homelessness? Jsut curiosity, I am not planning on doing it!
  • I really feel that you may be cutting your nose off to spite your face if you complain to him! What did he do that was so wrong ? You asked him to come round and mend your toilet and agreed he could let himself in ....I am sure he will not have done that without first knocking and giving you the chance to let him in. He sounds like a good LL to me ..... at least he probably thinks he is!
    I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

    I have read it - I just think you are over - reacting and that the LL thought he was doing you a favour by coming earlier ......

    which is ridiculous. we had an appointment. he should have stuck to it. or why didnt he call before? he apparently made the journey to sort it particularly, so it was not a spur of the moment thing.
    Would I still be over-reacting if I had started this thread with.....
    I was in the bath and the LL walked in unannounced?
  • I am really surprised at the flak you're getting here! I have two children and would hate anyone (even if he is my landlord) to enter my home without specific agreement - and that means on the right day at the agreed time. As you say, you don't know the bloke from Adam - why on Earth would you want him wandering around your home when you aren't there?!

    I'm not suggesting your landlord was malicious, just that (like many, many) landlords) he fails to realise that his house is your, and your daughter's, HOME. I would probably have mentioned that I'd have preferred to be present when he entered the house, but not made a big deal of it. Given the time lapse though, I would now be tempted to wait and see if it happens again, and consider checking out the legal position on lock changing.
