  • I wouldn't necessarily agree with the ppw booking system being awful. Ok it doesn't like apostrophes and it is down very occasionally, but its so much quicker than everyone else's and it's automated with a late cut off. Also you can also track all you shipments in one place etc. But anyway....

Kudos for daring to use DPD! If they continue to get good reviews I will add them to the list. As longs as they don't subject us to any inter-thread marketing! Which was a favourite past time of there's.

With saletrack not having a cut-off is very useful and something we utilize where necessary. Just be careful to make sure everything prints properly; 10p charge for reprinting labels. Also remember their prices are plus VAT.
  • ok, maybe ppw booking is not 'awful', 'quirky' may be a more appropriate term, butjust not working just when I needed them of late.... Had to use them again today for 2 late orders, booked at 12.15 and they seem to have gone through, just waiting for dhl to land to collect. Also 2 booked through DPD last night, again no real confirmation of much when you book through them, but their 24/48 hour dhl home delivery is now same price as PPW for that service, (6.95 inc vat) - with 150 insurance cover included (PPW covers you for 100)

We currently use Apc to deliver all our packages, we sent out about 15 a day, size is anything between 1500x500mm, 1000x1000mm and weight can be from 3kg to 20kg.

We have a good price, we pay £7.29 up to 20kg then .29p for each kg after that.

The problem we have is they have changed there tarif and now anything over 1250x750mm gets charged an extra £2.50, as it blocks their conveyor belt. So we are not happy at all, as well as the recent damages they have created for our goods.

We have also tried ANC, but again, we did not like this company at all.

We have heard bad things about out TNT and how they manage parcels by throwing them on and off wagons.

So does anyone recommend a great courier service, that can offer a good rate for a comnpany that spends around £600 a month carriage and rising.

We are looking for good customer service, good delivery rate, takes care of parcels, daily pickup (around 4ish preffered) and online booking.

    Thank you for your time.

    Many Thanks

    Simon
How important is cut-off time? If you use booking agents you'll easily be able to beat the £7.29 you currently pay, but the the latest cut of time will be either 12.30 or 1.30pm. Most agents use DHL, who by in large we have no problems with.

We send quite high volume and our current set up is www.ppwexpress.com (12.30 cut-off) for domestic, Sale Track (like having an account with DHL, via Sale Track) for next day deliveries for orders after 12.30 and Express Packages Deliveries (parcelforce) for European consignments.

This works well and in for us we are very happy with the service we get. But DHL re-seller rates are going up hugely next month so ppwexpress will probably go out the window for us. So we'll probably move over to Express Packages Deliveries for domestic and Europe and Sale Track for late in the day orders

Specifically regarding DHL, they come at 4-5.30pm (if we've got a lot he normally does it in two stops, first around 2.30 then back at 5). All four of the DHL drivers we have contact with are excellent. We tend to only use the 48hr service but everything normally gets delivered next day. For some service is everything (one problem and toys are flying out of the pram), for us price comes first and we are willing to make exceptions if a problems occurs- which in truth are very rare.

I'll PM now some other info.

I am looking for a courier to send a fishing rod, and am struggling to find one that is an accepted one for paypal.
The length of the package is 170cm x 20cm x 20cm. Weight is 1.5 kg.

I have been on the TNT site and got quoted £50 odd quid!!

Can anyone recommend a (paypal friendly) courier that will send a package of this length (170cm) and is under £20?
    I Hate Jobsworths!!!
  • Interparcel TITAN service. Will be £13.50'ish

    Thanks for that!
Will this also cover me with paypal as I cannot see it on their 'accepted' list?

  • They accept paypal but there is a surcharge (understandable!).

    I wouldn't worry though, they're a big/commonly used out fit.

Anyone know of a courier that will ship a glass dining table and 4 chairs from the Uk to N ireland?
All the ones on the first page have NI services (£10.50 and up), but you won't be covered on insurance though. Also guessing the table is going to be quite big?
  • Hi. I wanted to send an envelope or small packet using FedEx to America weighing no more than 0.5kg. Does anyone know the best agent to go through to get a good price with FedEx? I have had a look around and most are with DHL. Thank you.
  • Further to my previous post, can someone please tell me the best service in terms of speed to send an envelope to the US please. Your help is much appreciated.
