  • Yes i have had my original confirmation, then PDF and now the other email. I have also noticed that they have already taken the money from my account on the 11/11/05.

IThank you for placing an order with Dell. For internal reasons, we have not been able to complete the processing of your original order [334020873] to your requirements. This happens from time-to-time when parts or systems are discontinued or incompatible.

If we can build your order with an equivalent specification, a new order will be placed for you within the next business day. You will receive updated order reference numbers once this is complete.

Otherwise a Dell agent will be contacting you to discuss the details.

Same email here, wonder what's going to happen next? An 'equivalent specification' would do me, interesting that they have already taken payment too...
  • Just got same e-mail as Ted_Hutchinson, but looks like a standard 'hold' reply as they obviously aren't building a system.
Couldn't see a monitor with similar spec's last time I looked, but there was a 'high end' one with no specs listed. Think I'll go and have another look.

However it's also possible that they don't have enough 17" crt's, because of the number supposedly ordered and that's why I got the e-mail.

Except these were 19" TFTs and they do have an "equivalent" model - they could give you the E193FP which is slower response but still not a bad screen.

I was just pointing out that as Dell seem to think we ordered 17" crt's the e-mail could refer to that. Not the 19" TFT's we all know we ordered. There is nothing in the e-mail to indicate either way.

  • yep, we could all get 19" CRT's instead, dont laugh, it might happen! (remember the index hp printer/usb key scenario)

I just got the same email, I personally think this is just a nicely worded way of cancelling our orders.

    The E196FP isn't discontinued - it's brand new!
    It isn't incompatible - you're buying it stand-alone.
So no reason to cancel your orders?
