Just had a look at a jiffy bag that contained a DVD I bought from Play for £24.99 and it says on the label "IMPORT VAT PRE-PAID". Play, HMV and Sainsburys (and I presume Tesco Jersey) all prepay the import tax so you won't get charged.

Play send their items separately regardless, so you don't need to worry about it (although I'm not sure about the others ).
