Why are we being so mean to each other?

In this case there wasn't any upset because I asked the question so maybe people should ask the question before getting upset......................that way the problem is solved
Now I see the other half of the problem, people don't actually read the posts properly, no wonder there are upsets.0 -
No need to apologise , these things happen ,I was merely pointing out that you should read my post now ...............just as you pointed out I may of misread it.Yes, there you go again, I was posting at the same time so difficult to read what was posted at the same time. I apologise for pointing out what Greenstuff also pointed out and for editing my post now that you have posted again.
See no problem whatsoever

I (like to) think in most instances people aren't being deliberately rude to each other. (Although I do accept that some people on some boards set out to be deliberately controversial.) ::)
A lot of the problem is that some people are quite abrupt with their 'typing' style. :-[ What may be meant as well-intentioned advice can be misinterpreted as being critical. :-X
Also different things bother/irritate different people, as evidenced by some of the 'vents' on this board. For example, there have been a number of threads criticising people for just posting 'thanks' to others. To my mind, that's just being polite and letting the poster know that you've found their post useful. It's obviously irritating to some people. ???
At the end of the day, with so many different people using MSE, there are going to be some clashes and conflicts. Speaking for myself, if I have offended other people in the past, I have never done so intentionally. :-/
I do spend more time deciding how I am going to phrase things and generally preview posts now so I can see how they come across in print.
The other thing.... (I will shut up soon, honestly! ::)) is that you don't always know what is happening to the poster outside in the 'real world' and that is obviously going to affect the content of their posts.
I know when I was splitting up with my ex I spent a lot of time on here and probably didn't think about the content of any posts I made, as much as I do now I'm feeling much happier.
I'll shut up now....... :-[
